Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I followed this recipe exactly and the rolls came out kind of hard and dry without very much flavor. Will try again and add more liquid next time.

Whole Grain Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2008
I made exactly as directed. These waffles wouldn't get crisp until I toasted them in the toaster oven. The taste is okay - they taste like healthy waffles, but don't taste bad. I'll eat them because I like that they are good for me, but I wouldn't serve them to guests.

Real Southern Cornbread

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I halved this recipe and cooked it in an 8x8 pan because I don't have a skillet. The bread turned out dense, rich, buttery and tangy. It was very good, however the buttermilk flavor was a little more than I am used to. Next time I will probably experiment with less buttermilk and a little regular milk to cut down on the tangy-ness. Overall, very good though, highly recommended.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
This was perfect. I did go ahead and blend the bananas in, rather than folding them in. Also used pecans because that is what I had on hand. This is the only recipe for banana bread I will ever use from now on.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
This was pretty good out of the oven, and it really good the next day or after being frozen! It makes a lot - I got a little over 50 mini-muffins and a whole 9x5 loaf out of it.

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
I really like this bread. I followed the recipe exactly but it took quite a while to rise. For the first rise it took about 2 hours and the second time a little over an hour. The crust came out nice and chewy and the middle is soft, flavorful, and kind of dense. Make sure to brush the crust with butter after taking it out of the oven so that it doesn't get too hard.

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2005
This is really good! I used 7 granny smith apples, 2 large red delicious, and 5 very small gala. The apple butter is very sweet but I like it that way. My apartment smelled so good all day long. Also, during the times I was home I turned the cooker on high and stirred often to speed things up, then turned it back to low when I left. That worked well and did not seem to hurt anything. I only did this when the mixture was thin though, I think it would burn if the mixture was thick. I will be canning this for christmas gifts this year.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
These cookies had a good flavor but were hard to deal with. Batch 1 spread out into cookie puddles that would not hold together even when cooled. I had baked at 350 for about 15 min. Batch 2 baked at 375 - went from underdone to overdone in about a minute. These don't taste good overdone. Batch 3 also baked at 375 finally turned out right, but had to keep very close watch on them. I thought the cookies tasted good but don't feel that they are worth the constant watching. Seems that they have to be timed just right.

French Herb Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
This bread had way too much onion and garlic for my taste. Although I thought the flavor was much too strong, it was still a good flavor. Also, I got the not-so-bright idea of trying to make individual rolls out of it *after* I'd already rolled it up like a jelly roll. Bad move - it didn't rise and just generally turned out bad. Should have left it in a loaf.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2005
These are very good! I used real butter and they turned out just a little richer than I would have liked. Will try next time with margarine to see which is better. Mine looked just like in the picture :)

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2005
Not very good. This recipe is proof that a cake can be too moist. The batter did not rise hardly at all, the cake was incredibly heavy and a little oily on the surface. The cake toothpick tested clean after 45 minutes and I let it cool completely before frosting it. Upon cutting it, I was disappointed to find that the inside of the cake was not cake-like at all; it was much more like a pudding and was way way too heavy. It also needs more spice. I will not make this again. I gave it two stars because it is not quite bad enough to throw away-not quite, but almost.

Marian's Creamed Corn

This would have been incredibly thick if I had not added some cream. Also, I thought it had a little too much cream cheese. Other people liked it pretty well though.

The caramel kept falling out and I had to use a ton of dough to keep that from happening. Still they tasted good even withouth the caramel.
