Easiest Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
It was easy and great! I didn't have the au jus mix so I used 1 packet of onion soup mix, 1 minced up clove garlic, and made beef broth with stock mix and 2 1/4 cups hot water. I put it in the crock pot on high for 3.5 hrs, shredded it put it on hoagie rolls along with provolone and swiss cheese then toasted in the 450 oven for about 2-3 min. My family of 5 all enjoyed :)

Cola Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Very Tasty. Some changes I made: season with a mix (I used Country Bob's Seasoning), add a little onion powder, floured it, fried it just to brown it. I only used 3 Tbls brown sugar (it was plenty sweet) with the Ketchup and Cola (2nd time I made it I only had Dr. Pepper and it was great). Then baked as recipe called for 350 for about an hour. One time I let it sit in Dr. Pepper or Cola for a few hours and it came out even more tender (and no it doesn't taste like soda : ) ) **Try adding a little Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce for a little more Sweet/Tangy Taste** MMmm mmmm.

Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
Good Mix! I make it for our family and for family friends who are missionaries overseas and they can't get taxo mix there. Changes: *Only 1 tsp. Salt!*, reduced to 1 Tbls. Corn Starch. The minced onion and garlic didn't seem to want to stay mixed up equally with the other ingredients so I ground them up into powder. Another time I decided to use bought powders instead of the minced=3 Tblsp Onoin Powder, 2 tsp garlic powder. Good recipe, but too much salt as is.

Easy Herb Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This was a great recipe for making a turkey for the first time. (Well 1st time for a full 21 lb. turkey, I have made a turkey breast before). Changes: Used celery salt in place of sage and since that had salt in it I didn't use any additional salt. Used 1/4 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup olive oil. Cut a few slits in the skin and injected the olive oil/melted butter mixture using a baster. I also used a bag to make it even moister. Using the bag also gave me lots of drippings for gravy and stock. It was all terrific! I got great reviews from our three sons and my hubby, who called my mom to tell her how good it was. Thanks for a great and easy recipe.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
It's great to find this recipe here : ). I was just given some starter, but the instructions are a bit different so I have some ?s. ?1) Is it better to use gallon bags, or plastic/glass bowls?; ?2) it says "if any air gets in the bag, let it out" I thought this batter was supposed to get air via an open ziploc or an open bowl. Which is it??; ?3) On Day 10 mine says to add 1 1/2 cups each of flour, sugar and milk, but that is 1/2 cup more of each ingredient compared to the recipe given here. Does this matter??; and ?4) The instructions I received say to bake at 325 not the 350 I see in the friendship bread recipes I see on this site. What have you experienced??? Thanks

Cheesy Catfish

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
We were disappointed. It turned out mushy and didn't get golden brown. The kids liked the fish but not the breading. The dog didn't even like the breading. Perhaps broiling and using bread crumbs might help it.

Impossible Pumpkin Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
This has been a great recipe for us. Crusts are nice, but it is also nice to have this as a change when you've been sampling other pies with crusts. The blender or mixer both work fine. If you like this pie you should try the Impossible Coconut Pies sometime, yummm.
