Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
This bread turned out tasting pretty good, but it didn't rise at all like baked goods usually do.I filled my pan about 2/3 full and that is where it stayed. So i turned out some pretty flat loaves! I'll know for next time to go ahead and fill my pans. I replaced 1/2c. of flour with wheat germ (like I always do), and added some cinnamon and a bit of flax seed.

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Whirrled the whole thing up in the food processor in a snap. I used fat free cream cheese (even though I don't like the stuff) and the flavor was still amazing. I didn't have celrey salt, so I threw a few leaves of celrey into the food processor with the cilantro. also I accidently left out the sour cream, but didn't miss it. I've made two batches in a week!

Chicken Chimichangas with Green Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
These looked Beautiful served over a bed of shredded lettuce. The recipe made 12 ten inch flour tortillas, but not even my husband could eat more than two. My family loved it so much that they are having it two nights in a row with no complaints! 805 calories is a lot though, so here are the changes I made in an attempt to lighten it up: fat free versions of cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream. I completely left off the Cheddar. Baked, not fried. And I used the spices from Taco Seasoning 1 instead of packaged. Also, in the sauce I used a small squirt of sriracha chili sauce in place of the jalapeno.

Tuna Noodle Cups

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
The idea of individual cups of tuna noodle casserole earns it an extra star because the kids thought that was fun-- untill they tasted them that is. seriously, yuck.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
yup. it's a waffle. Not the "worlds greatest." But there's nothing at all bad about it either. I think the simplicity of the ingredients and the instruction make this an excellent recipe for first-timers or anyone in need of a no fuss basic waffle recipe. It took me literally 5 min. to get these onto the iron the morning after my daughters sleepover. served with bluberry topping and whipped cream-- instant rock star mom!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
mashed beans on a bun. We had to pile on the lettuce to overcome the texture. This is not a good replacement for those accustomed to beef hamburgers. It looked great, but that is where the resemblance ends. If you are not already a bean burgur lover, I suggest having a back-up.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
Great taco taste. Use a chilli powder that you like though. The first time I made it, it tasted kinda burnt (because of the chilli powder I used) and the second time it was very spicy even though I omited the pepper (again because of the chilli powder)

Peanut Butter Candy Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
These are really very good. Milk chocolate, and 1 tsp. salt are needed to make it really taste like a Reeses though. I used crunchy peanut butter-yum!

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
My centers were not molten, just a little gooey. I guess if you use regular muffin tins you should bake them for a lot less time. Even still, I won't be giving these a second shot because the flavor was more like an egg custard than any sort of fudge.

Scott's Buffalo Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I used even less hot sauce for the kids and added a shake of garlic powder on a whim. They gobbled them up! I liked this sauce because it still tastes like wing sauce without being overly spicy.

Oven Pot Roast

Husband and I thought it was ok, but my 9 y/o daughter (who, to be fair, is a bit of a drama queen) Gaged with every bite.

Stir-Fried Shrimp with Snow Peas and Ginger

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
This recipe gets 4 stars for the sauce, 3 stars for the veggies. I didn't like having just snow peas. Even though they are one of my favorites for stir-fry, alone they were a little boring. The sauce, however, was really very good. It had a nice mild flavor that the kids especially enjoyed. But I did have to double the amount (and could probably have done so again!)It was a very easy and quick to make.

Winter Vegetable Hash

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Super meal! I cooked mine with a bit of stock so that I could cut way back on the fat. Somehow my squash overcooked but the flavor was amazing, and it was sooo filling! I made Baked Kale Chips from this site with my leftover greens.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
These tasted great (even to the kids!) but only gets a 4 star rating because they didn't keep as well as I had hoped. The next day they were still delicious, but kind of chewy. Best to enjoy right away. Also, I would not recomend taking these to an office party or similar, because everyone will be roaming around with little green bits in their teeth!

Spring Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I couldn't even wait for these to come out of the oven to write this review! Awesome! (I started munching the ends when slicing. So good they almost didn't make it back in the oven!) I agree that the dough was sticky, but not as bad as some I've worked with, and a lumpy loaf still bakes up pretty.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I put this all in a small crockpot. I thought it could have used a bit more cheese and a bit less salsa, but otherwise a pretty good dip.

Added soy to the dressing, and the resulting flavor was exactly what I was looking for! I also used some romaine and used prepackaged coleslaw

Chili Mac, Mexican Style

This was different than I thought it would be (not very tomato-y) but the whole family really enjoyed it. Next time I'll add bell pepper.

Yuck! I thought this would be a nice filling meal for the family, but no one could choke down more than a few bites. We all filled up on bread instead!
