Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
Oh my this is good! Hubby can't stand any sort of meatloaf. Until now! He LOVED this which says quite a lot. I doubled it and we still didn't have a lot leftover for sandwiches. He piled his plate high! I made mashed potatoes and green peas to go with it. Tip for cutting the grease: put several pieces of sandwich bread underneath the meatloaf. It will soak up a lot of the grease, then just throw the nasty greasy bread away when the loaf is done! Thank you Rempels for sharing your recipe!!!!

Basic Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This is exactly what I remember growing up with as a child. Exactly how my mom made it. Delicious! With chicken salad, the simplest recipes are the best. Don't use FF mayo, use light if you absolutely must. Hellman's or Duke's mayo yields the best results. I love Miracle Whip but not in chicken salad. A delicious warm weather meal!

Aracely's Flan

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
This was wonderful! I did a warm water bath rather than steaming it....60 minutes at 350 in the oven and it was perfect! Not the least bit overcooked and sooooo creamy and delicious! Not a bit of it was left over after dinner. We served it warm and it was divine! Thanks for sharing such an easy and yummy recipe! We'll definitely be making it again and again!

Divinity

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Even if you follow the recipe exactly and don't make it on a rainy or humid day, you have to accept that sometimes it won't work. That is just the nature of making divinity and has nothing to do with the recipe. That's just something you have to be aware of before you take on ANY divinity recipe. If you don't accept that fact...make something else. You have to be a good sport when attempting a divinity recipe! That being said... I love this recipe!!!! I like chocolate chips rather than nuts in it....although just plain is wonderful as well!

Hot Sweet Onion Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
I'm good friends with the the submitter of the recipe and the site gave the wrong proportions, much to her alarm. You make this with 2 cups mayo, 2 cups shredded swiss cheese and 2 cups vidalia or any sweet onion (NOT all those onions it says to use!!!)No wonder some people thought it was nasty. It's to die for when it's made correctly! I hope those people who had bad experiences will try it again.

Tomato Pie I

Reviewed: May 3, 2006
SO good! It's even better when the fresh tomatoes are in season. Make sure your tomatoes are seeded and drained really well or the crust gets gooey. We've made this for several years and just love it!!!!

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
This is amazingly good! I took the suggestion and used a pound of ground beef. I also used two cans of low sodium beef broth instead of water...big difference! I threw in a handful of ditalini pasta just to make it extra hearty. Yummy!!!! The onion soup mix is a GREAT addition! Thank you SO much for sharing this fabulous recipe! We will be making this a lot this winter!!!!

Christmas Stollen

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
My hubby's family is German and it isn't Christmas without a stollen. Usually we order one from Dresden but last year I decided to make one. I'm giving it four stars because it passed the in law test and was delicious but MAN is it a lot of work. If you're willing to put in the time to find the ingredients and make it, this IS the recipe you want to try. We're buying a stollen this year, simply because I'm being lazy. This recipe is authentic and wonderful. Oma and Opa would approve!

Simple Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
Fabulous dip and totally idiot proof! SO simple and so good....this is one of my "go to" recipes when we have company. It turns out best when you use Hellman's mayo....don't use the light mayo, it doesn't work as well! I also throw in a couple of minced garlic cloves.

Great Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2006
Yep! It IS the greatest chicken salad ever and I've never liked chicken salad that was thrown in a processor. It's delicious, and so much easier to spread on a sandwich. I still like chunky salad when it's served over a lettuce leaf, but this ROCKS on a sandwich. The lemon juice wakes up the flavor and the Marzetti cole slaw dressing is a fabulous addition. I love this!

Just wonderful! I used a frozen Butterball and worried it would be too salty since they're already preinjected but no worries! Makes a tremendous difference in the meat. Thanks Sheri! We'll do this again at Christmas!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
I had to change the foil under it midway through cooking b/c the sugar was burning and you HAVE to use a broiler pan or the bacon will stay soggy. It tastes pretty good but not so amazing that it's worth all the work. Sorry, will not be making again.
