Chicken Liver Pate

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
Awesome even if chicken livers gross you out like they do me! Guests tried it, raved about it, THEN asked what it was. You'll have many converts, I promise. It's amazing!!!!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
Pretty bland....my mother in law liked it but she hates any type of spice or seasoning on anything. Hubby didn't finish it and that says a ton. We prefer Mexican to be a lot zippier. I'll stick to going out for Mexican food.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2005
Made for dinner last night and it's so good! I used crushed tomatoes rather than whole, but just because I don't like chunky sauce. Only other change is I threw in some italian seasoning. Good for a cold night. Meatballs are simple and yummy. Thanks for sharing!

How exciting to rediscover this cookie! I hadn't had these since I was a little girl and had totally forgotten about them. They're SO good! This recipe tastes exactly as I remember. YUM!

Christmas Stollen

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
My hubby's family is German and it isn't Christmas without a stollen. Usually we order one from Dresden but last year I decided to make one. I'm giving it four stars because it passed the in law test and was delicious but MAN is it a lot of work. If you're willing to put in the time to find the ingredients and make it, this IS the recipe you want to try. We're buying a stollen this year, simply because I'm being lazy. This recipe is authentic and wonderful. Oma and Opa would approve!

A holiday favorite in our house. The vapors when you open up the airtight container you're keeping them in are heavenly! Very addictive!

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
Super simple and really really good! I love my crepes with butter, sugar, and Grand Marnier. Warmed Nutella with sliced banana is also heavenly with this. Makes me miss living in France!

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
Awesome! Isn't Velveeta just the BEST product ever??? Only change I made was to leave the cheese off the crumb topping and mix the bread crumbs with a little melted butter before sprinkling over the top. I added crushed red pepper to my serving which made it really yummy and a little more "grown up".

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
Just wonderful! If you want to make them even more sinful, sprinkle shredded cheddar and crumbled bacon over the top before baking. I also put chopped fresh chives in it. I did make it as well with no changes and it's awesome just the way it is too!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2005
Oh my this is good! Hubby can't stand any sort of meatloaf. Until now! He LOVED this which says quite a lot. I doubled it and we still didn't have a lot leftover for sandwiches. He piled his plate high! I made mashed potatoes and green peas to go with it. Tip for cutting the grease: put several pieces of sandwich bread underneath the meatloaf. It will soak up a lot of the grease, then just throw the nasty greasy bread away when the loaf is done! Thank you Rempels for sharing your recipe!!!!

Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2005
Maybe I did something wrong but all the blue cheese melted away when I cooked it and you couldn't taste it at all. Edible, but nothing special.

This is SO good! What a yummy twist to dip the sandwich in marinara...dippers are always a fun thing to do. I'm going to try it next time with already prepared garlic bread. Thanks!

So good! We made this for Christmas gifts and have had many requests for the recipe. Easy and fairly inexpensive to make and is SO well received! It was hard keeping my hubby out of it before I put it in little containers for gifts.

Divinity

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Even if you follow the recipe exactly and don't make it on a rainy or humid day, you have to accept that sometimes it won't work. That is just the nature of making divinity and has nothing to do with the recipe. That's just something you have to be aware of before you take on ANY divinity recipe. If you don't accept that fact...make something else. You have to be a good sport when attempting a divinity recipe! That being said... I love this recipe!!!! I like chocolate chips rather than nuts in it....although just plain is wonderful as well!
