About this Cook
We are a military family stationed at Eielson AFB but live in North Pole, and I LOVE it here! I've always known Alaskans were friendly, but even this Anchorage-ite was amazed by the wonderful people in the Fairbanks area! We love to cook and will grill when it's above 20 below zero!! We have two kids who love to help us in the kitchen too. The dog, well, the dog just likes to lay in the middle of the kitchen praying for something edible to drop on the floor...
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook pretty much husband loves all kinds of seafoods but I am a bit picky on that...but we eat all kinds of foods and rarely eat the same thing twice!
My cooking tragedies
Ohhh, the tragedies I've overcome...most recently my Pyrex pan exploding in the oven. Slicing myself with a brand new knife, nearly eliminating a digit. I am a good cook, but I never admitted to being a graceful cook! Watch out for fingernails in that stew...

Royal Icing II
I just made a tiny batch of this (thank goodness for AR's serving calculator!) for some old-fashioned oatcakes I found in Rock Recipe's blog. The cakes taste just like oatmeal cookies (but I didn't add any raisins or nuts because the kids don't like them) so I decided to look up a royal icing recipe I could size down to ice the small batch of cakes I made. I wanted something with a maple flavor so I added 1/2 tsp maple extract to the icing, hopefully it isn't too much extract. It is drying nicely right now though! Hopefully my daughter will opt for these instead of pop tarts in the morning!

Molasses Crinkles
I first made these last year with a bunch of other cookies to give to my neighbors at Christmas. We of course saved some for ourselves and ooooh boy were they good. I made them again last month for the teachers at my school and EVERYONE loved them! They are wonderful, wonderful cookies! Can't wait to make them again this Christmas!

Peanut Butter Temptations II
Oh man these are SUCH sinful cookies! I made a huge batch for the holidays and they were gone gone in a FLASH. My husband, who is not a big sweets fan, LOOOOVES these cookies!
