Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2014
I just finished making this bread and it is wonderful. This is my first time baking a non sweet bread as well, great instructions for newbies. I did use a little less sugar b/c I wanted a good taste for sandwiches and such. As suggested by others I made my second loaf into a cinnamon loaf using the filling from clone of a cinnabun. Came out soooo yummy! This will now be my go to bread recipe (much better than breadmaker bread).

Omelet in a Mug

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2014
We just made these this morning to see how well they worked. We will be traveling and only have a microwave to work with for breakfast so these turned out perfect. I pretty much followed the instructions (I was a tad lazy and used two whole eggs and a splash of milk like I would for regular eggs). I had no problems with stirring the egg or rubbery eggs. Ours came out perfect! I made ham and cheese for my 4 year old and a spinach and feta combo for myself. I love that this recipe is simple, quick, and you can customize it to your taste. Thanks for the wonderful recipe using a microwave.

Grands!® Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2014
My family really likes this recipe, it's been requested 3 times this month! I only make a half batch as there are only 3 of us and turns out perfectly. I also use an 8x8 baking dish as I don't have a bunt pan. I made as is per directions the first time and it came out well enough. My only suggestion is once you've added your brown sugar to the melted butter, heat it or place in the microwave for 10-20 sec to help the sugar melt. This really helps the sauce caramelize and not come out still grainy. I also like to double the cinnamon and/or use pumpkin spice in the mix.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2014
Wonderful, very moist cake! My 3 yr. old was wanting to make a chocolate cake. I had most of the ingredients on hand and had to substitute a few I didn't have or had little of. I had to sub 1 cup greek yogurt for the sour cream, only had 1/2 c. choc. chips, and 1/2 c. eevoo (I added a tsp. of dark cocoa powder to mask any flavor from this oil). Even with the substitutions this recipe came out great. Would make a great plain choc. cake as well, but I will definitely make again with all the chocolate chips next time (I love chocolate). We ended up using a 9x13 pan as I don't have a bunt pan, and baked it for 325 in convection oven for 35-40 min. Then we topped it with peanut butter frosting and mini m&ms (my sons touch). Cannot wait to play around and try different flavors with this recipe. Thanks!

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
Great recipe, i did cook my rice in half beef broth half water b/c all i had and added some minced garlic. Love this w/ s. seed oil, but if you've never had it before i suggest adding a little at a time b/c it can be overpower if you add to much. Thank for the great recipe.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
These cookies are the best!! I will be replacing my old faithful recipe w/ this one. I made exactly as directed (ref. overnight) and used parchment paper to bake on. These cookies come out light and puffy but amaizingly hold their shape!! Great for large cookies. My only regret was I made a half batch, which only made 12 Large (4in diam.) and 12 mini (1 in. diam). round cookies. As far as taste these are great alone or w/ icing. I also like to sprinkle w/ cinn. sugar before baking. My 2 year old who does not like icing yet loved these. Before i finished makeing them all he kept coming back w/ his mouth stuffed full asking for more ;o) Thanks so much for the great recipe.

Quick Sun-Dried Tomato and Basil Hummus

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
First off I love hummus and basil! I've also tried all flavors imaginable. This is one of the most flavorful recipes i've ever tried. I made as is exept I cut back the olive oil a bit to cut some calories and I personally don't like some of the hummus you get that is just sitting in it. I cannot wait to make more (ours is all gone) for my hummus loving family memebers! Thx so much for the great recipe.

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
This bread was great my husband and 1yr old loved it. I could not believe it was gone so fast! I did sub half the flour for whole wheat and half the oil for applesauce. I would pefer it to have a little more spice flavor (could be due to the use or wheat), but try it as is first. I'm making more as we speak to take to a party. Thanks for the great recipe.

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
Made this after reading many reviews. I made as directed w/ no substitutions and came out better than i'd expected. I am definately not an expericenced cook, so took the advice of others and beat butter sugar mix for 10-15 min. I also found that constant stiring prevents from any scalding or lumps. However while waiting for milk mixture to cool mine started to form a layer on top. I would recommend stiring a few times while cooling b/c this layer could cause lumps if cooled to much and thickened. Luckily mine was creamy and light just as it was supposed to turn out and no gritty texture either. Thx for the lovely recipe, really saved me time not having to run to store for whipping cream .

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
I've made these muffins for years, it's actually an old ww recipe and very low cal. I make as is w/ any cake flavor mix, my favorite is dark choc. (no spices). They are very dense, moist and tend to leave peaks on the top. If you prefer a smoother top add 1/4 cup water and this should give you the smoothness your looking for. Red velvet and lemon are great as well, you don't even notice the pumpkin flavor.

Easy No Bake Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2011
These cookies did not stay very long, gone it two days! I love no bakes and needed a recipe for my 1 yr. old that did not have peanut butter. I hate those other no bake recipes w/ just cocoa powder they taste awful. So gave this one a try and wow! I used the pumpkin spice pudding mix and added the extra 1/2 cup of oats and i always use old fashioned b/c they come out chunkier. Despite the added oats cookies were a tad sticky but after refrigerating overnight they set up well enough to handle. These have such a creamy texture (not gritty like some cookies). I cannot wait to try these in more flavors including chocolate. TY so much for the recipe it has already found a home in my recipe box!

Easy BBQ Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
This recipe was great I did change a few things only b/c it's what i had on hand. Per ratings I used a spicy chipotle Honey BBQ sauce at 1 cup and only 1/2 cup honey b/c that's all i had. Other than that I followed directions and turned out great. Had to admit I was worried the chicken would be dry but we loved it. My husband even gave me a " well honey that's good". And he normaly doesn't comment lol. I will definately be playing around w/ this and some added seasonings for an annual rib cookoff. Thank you so much!!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
This cake has a very good flavor, but was just missing a little something for me. Needs just a little more kick, like nutmeg or something. However, i did leave out a few things due to hubbies dislikes (coconut and nuts). This was also the most moist carrot cake i've ever had, and i've tried alot!! I will definately be keeping and may try a few extra tweeks suggested by others next time.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
This frosting is just heaven. I don't know what else to say. I made a half batch and also used half butter as suggested by others. Other than that I followed directions exactly. Half batch made enough to thickly cover a 9x13 cake. It is also very rich in my opinion so if you don't like that you may need to adjust accordingly. But I will definately be using this from now on. Thank you Rick!!!

Black Forest Dump Cake I

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
This Recipe was just what I was looking for! I only had choc. cake mix and had everything else. I usually make a similar recipe w/ yellow cake mix and canned peaches..However, I did not add the pudding mix as it is not needed. I also do not like coconut so I left that out as well. To avoid a dry crumble make sure your butter is spread evenly across the entire dessert. This is a must for it to turn out correctly! Someone suggested grating frozen butter. I've not tried this, but sounds like a wonderful idea. I will definately be trying!! Would make things alot easier. Another combo that I love is crushed pineapple, blue berries, and yellow cake mix.

Kielbasa Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
For the most part I follwed the recipe however i did have to use some substitutions b/c I didn't have exactly what the recipe called for. I used spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce and dried spices and topped w/ italien five cheese instead. I did however have to use a bigger dish as suggested by others. My husband and I loved it as well as my 11 month old. He kept making the yum yum grumble while he ate it. Thank you so much for the recipe!

I was looking for something to use with leftover chicken. This was perfect. Besides adding the chicken I made the recipe as instructed (98% FF CM, and Chedder/Moz. mix). I was suprised at how much flavor this had. My husband loved it and it's going to become a regular.
