About this Cook
Starving student who loves to cook for other people.
My favorite things to cook
Absolutely adore baking and making dessert. Made tons of cakes, , cookies, pastries, sweets, truffles.. you name it. I LOVE cooking too, but still have a lot to explore when it comes to savory dishes. There are a lot of spices and techniques I still have yet to try. I love exploring food from other cultures.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family cooking traditions involve a lot of steaming and using a wok. Rice is also a staple, so creating flavorful, light, sharing dishes that go with rice is important to my family.
My cooking triumphs
-Creating the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe after trying over 100 recipes. I explored/tweaked to create my ideal cookie. -Making a single batch of gourmet chocolates after many ruined expensive batches of unsuccessful tempering. -Making authentic tasting Phad Thai from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
-Trying to temper chocolate correctly! Now that really needs skill! Took me SO many tries and it was messy, but I was finally able to make a batch of gourmet chocolates. I'll stick to purchasing it from now on. haha Different types of chocolate burn at different temperatures and must never have a drop of liquid mixed in or it will be ruined. Trust me I wasted A LOT of time and money! I'd love to learn from a professional one day. -My first time making angel food cake from scratch when I was really young. I didn't mix the egg whites properly to create peaks and the cake was awful and sunken

Simple Spinach Lasagna
This recipe is delicious! BUT, because I made a minor change, I cannot give it a 5 star rating. First of all, with 1 whole tsp of salt, it would be wayy too salty. I used a 1/2 tsp and it was still quite salty. Also, next time I may lesson the water a bit to 1 cup instead. After the lasagna was done baking I sprinkled some parmesan and cheese to melt on top so it would look nicer presentation wise. All in all, it was a delicious recipe and I would make again for sure. Thanks!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
Great tasting cookies! I prefer them soft and chewy. I did flatten the cookies a little before putting them in the oven since they don't spread very much. I baked them in my oven for 9 minutes and let them cool. I added raisins to the second batch I made and love them even more.

Cool Whipped Frosting
Fantastic recipe. A light but creamy and tasty frosting. I followed the directions and ingredients as listed and it can frost 2 small cakes, or 1 bigger, double layer cake. I used the original cool whipped (not the low fat one) which I think may be what is changing the consistency of some of the other reviewers frosting.
