Sinfully Delicious Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I wanted this to turn out right so badly, since this is my husband's favorite...I followed the directions precisely, (including the minimum of 5 minutes of beating for each egg), all my ingredients were fresh, sugar ground down finely in food processor, & butter and eggs at room temperature before beginning. I changed nothing from the original recipe. Even so, the batter was soupy going into the shell and was still soupy after refrigeration over night. If anyone has any insight into what might have gone wrong, I would appreciate hearing it...Until then, my search for the perfect, fluffy chocolate pie goes on.

Creamy Cranberry Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I gave this one 5 stars, because the salad itself is too wonderful...I could eat the whole thing by myself (and frequently do). But the cream cheese layer didn't add anything to it, at least not as written in the original recipe. I'm a lover of all things cream cheese, but this was just bland. I will always make this salad, but if I decide to add the cream cheese layer again someday, I will used sweetened whip cream, not plain whipping cream.

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
No need to change a thing; this is perfect just as written. And it doesn't get any easier than this, so why buy canned ?

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
This was very good, but a tad sweeter than what I was looking for...I was looking for a mac salad that's more savory than sweet(My family still ate all of it, lol). But this is a very good, easy recipe that I will keep for future tweaking !

Buttermilk Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
This was my first attempt at making a buttermilk pie, and it actually turned out well; the only problem is that it tasted exactly like a regular egg custard pie. So while it was still good, I was a little disappointed; I was looking for something a little richer, with a little more flavor. The only change I made was reducing the sugar slightly, to just over one cup, after reading the other reviews.

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
This is my new favorite recipe ! I have made it exactly as written each time, and it's pretty perfect as is, but I will agree that it would probably be good with virtually any kind of fruits. I intend to make this year-round, for any occasion (or. like today, for no occasion at all !) Wonderful on a hot summer day !

Green Grape Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
My whole family loves this; I make no changes to the original recipe except that I generally use red grapes. I think this is a great year-round dish.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I had high hopes for this frosting after reading all the great reviews, but it just didn't have enough flavor for us. I would have enjoyed a true buttercream flavor, but this one isn't it. It was more just sweet, and not even close to chocolate enough. On the plus side, it is super easy to make, and the texture was perfect. I did follow the ingredients exactly.

Peppermint Marshmallows

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Very easy, and much tastier than store-bought marshmallows. We made them with vanilla flavoring only, since the hubs doesn't care for peppermint. Packaged them up with hot cocoa mix for gifts. Fun !

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I followed the ingredients list exactly, and made sure that I boiled the cocoa mixture ( a full rolling boil) for about 1 and 1/2 minutes. I guess I'll have to try again, because the final result was so dry and crumbly that there was no way to spoon these out - I had to squeeze teaspoon- full amounts of the mixture together with my hands, and pray that the mixture will hold together in some sort of shape. They're cooling now, so I'm hoping the end result will not be too crumbly to eat. Very disappointed, because the ones I remember from my childhood could be spooned out onto waxed paper. I rated 4 stars because it must have been something I did wrong ! UPDATE: I made this exact recipe again, except I used 2 and 1/2 cups of oats....turned out perfect. I'm certain that I mixed the first batch according to the recipe, so my advice to others would be to start with less oats and add more if needed. I have noticed other reviews here where other people actually used MORE oats; I have no explanation for that. It's true that you don't want them runny when you spoon them out, but my first batch was too dry !

Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
I made this tonight, and really liked it. My husband and MIL thought it was a little too bland. Next time I may add salt/pepper or other spices, but I thought it was pretty good as is. I followed the recipe exactly, except made with sharp cheddar cheese. I will definitely make this again.
