I am a wife and mother to 1 beautiful daughter. My greatest dilemma is trying to find foods my daughter will eat and introducing foods that my husband doesn't know about...lol!:) I like trying new things, love to travel and try foods from everywhere..I will try anything - well almost anything - once. I am a cat lover and love spending time with friends for BBQ's and cards/board game nights. I am a huge NASCAR fan and was devistated last year when Rusty Wallace - my favorite driver - retired :( We travel to Alabama every spring to watch the race and camp with friends at the track. It's a ball.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking stir-fry's, and BBQing chicken on the grill. I am still getting used to cooking, we just recently upgraded our kitchen and I finally have a properly working stove/oven. So I am getting braver at trying new things. Whatever I cook though is always a hit, so I must be doing something right. The one recipe that everyone loves is my Italian spaghetti sauce, I make it differently each time, but I have found that it doesn't taste rigfht if I have help from others. I appreciate it, but it's not right.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two that stick out the most. But my family on my dad's side always gets together for Boxing Day (December 26) for a huge lunch. Being Danish, we have everything from mackerel and herring to good Havarti cheese, luncheon meats to boiled eggs, and meatballs to veggies and everything in between. All opened faced sandwiches and lots of schnapps!!! Good times.
My cooking triumphs
Anything I cook that turns out edible and not burnt to a crisp is a triumph! My spaghetti sauce is to die for and people come from all over the city for it - or so I like to think!!!
My cooking tragedies
Well fortuntely I have had few tragedies, bad dishes but no tragedies. I did however make a pasta dish once that turned out looking more like mush than food, but it tasted right, just cooked the noodles to long...have since learned!
