Easy Teriyaki Kabobs

We thought this recipe was great. I marinated the meat, pineapple and vegetables overnight, but next time, I would add the pineapples to the marinade a little closer to cooking time.

Raw Food Snacks - Cinnamon Bun Balls

Not sure if my dates were too small, my cinnamon was too potent, or if we just don't like cardamom, but this recipe didn't work for us. It WAS really quick and easy to make, so if the flavours work for you, then this would be worth making.

Fennel Soup

I have to say that this smelled terrible while it was cooking, but I am glad that I did not throw it out before trying it. I did not actually eat it until the following day, so all the flavours had time to meld together overnight. I followed the directions and did not make any changes or additions to the ingredients, although I did scale the recipe down to 2 servings and I pureed it. I thought it was a great pureed soup!

Chef John's Cauliflower Pizza Crust

I wish I had doubled the recipe! I did not have goat cheese, so instead, I used Daiya (mozzarella style) cheese--gluten free, soy free, & dairy free--both in the crust, AND for the cheese topping. I topped my pizza with a regular tomato-based pizza sauce, halved cherry tomatoes, green pepper, sliced fresh mushrooms, and diced red onion. I didn't know if this would go over well with my husband or not considering it was a "replacement recipe" for something he loves (AND I didn't tell him I wasn't using "real" cheese). He loved it. I loved it. I will be making this again, but next time, I will double the recipe so there will be left-overs.

Black Bean Salad with Avocado-Lime Dressing

Sorry, I had high hopes for this. The dressing was what didn't work for us (and what I thought would be the best part), but we liked all the components. It was simple to prepare and healthy, just not to our tastes.

Roasted Vegetable and Kale Soup

There were a lot of steps to this soup (but roasting the veggies brought out a lot of the flavour), and although I enjoyed the vegetables, I just didn't like the Italian sausage in this soup. If I were to make it again, I would boil the sausage first, because despite blotting and draining the cooked sausage on paper towels, the soup tasted greasy. I'd also shred my kale into smaller pieces (I thought it would "wilt" down, like spinach does)

Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds

These were very good, but not as good as the potato skins I usually make. I made these after realizing I did not have any oil for deep frying, and they were a perfect second choice. I would definitely make them again, even though I prefer to make skins, so thank you for the recipe.

Salmon Cheese Ball

I don't like salmon, but my husband RAVES about this recipe...it's very similar to the one his mom gave me 20 years ago (that I can't find). When I asked her for the recipe, she emailed me a link to THIS one...but I had already made it and had it chilling in the fridge, lol. He says it is even better the next day (that's because once I make it, he can never wait for me to let it chill for the full recommended time in the fridge first).

Easy Cheese Ball II

I used cheddar cheese and 1/2 of a ranch dip packet. I will try this next time using a ranch dressing (not dip) packet. I liked it, but the seasoning/salt flavour was pretty intense, even the next day.

Grape Jelly Meatballs

Smells really good while cooking, and it tastes okay. I used store bought frozen, cooked, Italian meatballs, and that's probably where this appy went wrong for us. The meatballs were too fatty, and the sauce didn't stick. The recipe rates a 5 for how easy it is to prepare, but I don't think I will make this again.

Penne and Vodka Sauce

This was very tasty! I used bacon instead of pancetta (I cooked the bacon, drained the fat, blotted the bacon, and then added butter to the pan to make the sauce). My picky son who doesn't usually eat tomato-based sauces had three servings.

I made squares instead of cookies. I used 1 1/2 cups of sugar (half white, half brown). I also added 2 tablespoons of hemp hearts and chia seeds (you can't see or taste them)

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Use the entire pkg of spinach (thawed with the water squeezed out). Definitely give it time to chill in the fridge before serving, so the flavours have time to blend.

Quick and Easy Black Bean Soup

Butternut Squash Soup II
