Scottish Oat Scones

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
Awesome base recipe! If you only want a plain scone with jam use the original recipe. If you want to jazz it up put what you like in eg. lemon rind and blueberries,or apples and cinnamon,or etc etc. If you want a sweeter scone you could add extra sugar which I did as I was not using with jam. I also replaced milk with yogurt as that is what I had.I also make individual scones just drop them on and flatten a bit with hand.

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
This was excellent! I was so impressed that it turned out. I did add an extra egg as many reviewers suggested. The one thing I did do that I won't do again is used real vanilla bean and it made it a bit crunchy as I think I added to much but that was my own fault. Also following other reviewers advice on making the carmel sauce. I did not stir the sugar until it started to liquify then stirred. It takes time and if it is clumping stop stirring it is too soon. Also warm pan in oven before pouring in carmel sauce and then cook in water bath.

Whole Wheat Sweet Potato Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
Excellent muffin recipe! Only change I made was to use plain yogurt in place of vanilla because that is what I had. The kids love them and they're healthy! You probably could reduce sugar content by 1/4 of cup if you are going to use the topping to make it even healthier.

Baked Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2009
Great quick recipe. The kids loved it. I used chicken legs and thighs. I have also made in the past with sliced onions instead of soup mix which is also good. Thank you for sharing

This was awesome! Everyone thought I had bought it. I also followed the advice on how to make cheese cake on this site. I also just heated seedless raspberry jam til I could pour it over the cake.

Pumpkin Flax Quickbread

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
Great healthy recipe. I used all whole wheat flour (I am sure it would be even better with some all purpose). I replaced 1/2 cup sugar with maple syrup and added 1 cup of raisins. I also used 1 and bit tsp pumpkin pie spice in place of other spices.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
This was great! I used whole wheat and it worked out fine. I did use an extra 1/2 cup of banana because of the whole wheat. It was a very healthy snack that the kids really enjoyed.

Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
I don't know why I never thought of it but thank you for the great idea. We have a large family and frying individual sandwiches took forever. Add bacon, tomato, apple or whatever. Thank you again for the time saving idea.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
I have to say I was skeptical, but my roast was so tender. I did cook additional 10 mins at beginning as we like our roast more on the med to well and then I kept the oven on at 275 mostly because I have a gas oven and it cools quickly. I put slivers of garlic in the roast and used salt and pepper. Awesome that a round roast can turn out so tender. Thank you for sharing

Cheese and Broccoli Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
We really enjoyed this recipe. I did use real chicken broth instead of cubes and once everything had cooked I took a potatoe masher to break up the broccoli. I also used canned milk so I could freeze it without the seperation and to cut down on some fat. simple and tastes great.

Mexican Sour Cream Rice

A great side dish with tacos or burritos. Did take other reviewers advice and near doubled the sour cream and used frozen corn. Also used pepper jack cheese instead of chillies and added a little taco seasoning.

Icy Blender Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
This was great on a hot day. The first batch we made was a little iffy, you just have to play with ingredients to fit your taste as well lemons vary in taste. Also added more ice less water to make it a little more slushy.

This is awesome! Took other reviewers advice and used to marinate chicken then grilled. mmmm! Did use less garlic to suit our taste and added a little dill. Also served with toasted pita and cucumbers as others did.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
This was great! I added an extra tbsp of sugar because my family likes slightly sweeter dressings but I am sure it is good the original way also. I also used apple cider vinegar instead because I was out of rice. Added extra veggies as others recommended. Thank you for a great summer recipe.

I have never made bread that tasted this good. I did add more flour as I am sure many people do in order to make it the right consisitency while kneeding. It had nice crusty outside and soft on the inside. Thank you
