About this Cook
I am inspired by people I know who cook and bake really well! My five-star rating means that the recipe was excellent as written and I will definitely make it again. My four-star rating means that I thought it was excellent or very good, but I may have made changes to the recipe as written to get it there. My three-star rating means that I liked it or felt so-so about it, but probably will not make it again. My two-star rating means that I really didn't like the recipe at all (and I'm pretty sure I didn't screw it up myself).
My favorite things to cook
Healthy food that tastes good. Also, I love baking and would love more excuses to do it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies all day long with Mom and Margaret. Having Thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa's house with the family.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I make something and somebody says it's good!
My cooking tragedies
I get really frustrated when I screw up basic things, like frying an egg and the egg sticks, or making dry pancakes even when I am using Bisquick. D'oh!

Egg-Free Dairy-Free Nut-Free Cake
I am amazed at how delicious and chocolatey this tastes. I topped the cake with the frosting made from the recipe on the back of Hershey's Cocoa. Scrumptiously vegan!

Penne Pasta with Cannellini Beans and Escarole
Very good. I followed the other reviewers' suggestions and sauteed garlic in olive oil before adding the other ingredients, and then adding a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Quinoa and Black Beans
Very good. Next time I will follow the other reviewers' suggestions and soak the quinoa before cooking. 20 minutes did not seem like enough time to cook the quinoa through.
