Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Made this and followed the recipe almost exactly. The bread turned out to be really soft and moist and the filling was perfect! I found that a lot of times, the filling will leak out during baking so I added 1/4 cup of flour to the filling during mixing and the filling stayed inside. The filling tastes wonderful so the flour didn't affect the taste, just the runnyiness (if such a word exists...).

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly, the only change I was forced to make was that my friend ran out of sugar so I used maple flavoured syrup instead and it tasted very good.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
Very good! It didn't stay soft but maybe because I made it into ginger snaps size. In any case, the taste was perfect. Thanks!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
The recipe was very good, I did take the advice of other reviewers and added vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. I used Gala apples instead. Got raving praises from family and friends. Thanks!

Creamy Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
It was very good except I mixed all the seasoning together, then coated both sides of the chicken pieces. The instructions weren't very clear. It was way too peppery because of that. Next time I'll sprinkle the pepper on the chicken to avoid overly peppery taste. Otherwise, very creamy and the chicken remained juicy.

Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
Messy but handy! I love the breads that I made using this starter. Very convenient and easy to maintain. Thanks for the recipe! I use 1/4 cup of milk, sugar, and flour if I plan on making 1 bread for myself and keeping the rest as starter. Otherwise, I use 1 cup of milk, sugar, and flour so I can make 2 batch of bread.

Amish Friendship Chocolate Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
My favourite kind of Amish bread! People thought it was cake but it tastes good so it didn't matter. I added some golden raisins to the bread. Will definitely make again!

Mango Lassi II

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Had no fresh mangos (poor us Winnipegers!) so used 2 cups of mango pulp instead with 2 1/2 cups of strawberry yogurt along with recommended ice. Didn't add sugar at all. Perfect thickness for me but too thick for my Mom. Added more milk to make it thinner, although I liked it the way it was. Thanks for the recipe!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
It was not bad. I thought it (the dressing) would wow me more for the amount of rave reviews this recipe got. My Mom thought it was too sweet, we'll add some balsamic vinegar to the rest of our dressing to give it more sourness. Put roasted pine nuts instead of almonds and omitted sesame & poppy seeds, onions & used lettuce instead of spinach (didn't like spinach). Used 1/4 olive oil and 1/4 veg oil instead.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Very good! Even my Mom loves it! I added a bit less sugar, I think I'll add full amount next time. I put golden raisins instead for more sourness and mini chocolate chips. Will put more raisins next time. Otherwise, perfect scones.

Easy Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Followed recipe as is. Couldn't find key lime juice so followed another reviewer's suggestion to combine lime juice with lemon juice. My family didn't like it, tasted sour with heavy condensed milk taste, no key lime taste to it at all. My boyfriend liked it enough to at least eat 3 slices...

Followed recipe exactly, it was alright, not the best. My family didn't like the texture so I ended up throwing it away. Sorry!

Mashed Potatoes with Fried Mushroom, Bacon, and Onion

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Thanks for the recipe! I've made some changes for my taste: Cut potatoes into even smaller sizes, kept bacon leftover oil to cook mushrooms, used green onions instead, added 1 tsp garlic salt & 2-3 tbsp of butter, 2 handfuls of corn, and enough milk to make whole potato mixture silkier. With my changes, even my skeptical Mom (who dislikes new recipes) loves it!

Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
I made this today and I think I added too much evaporated milk because the custard didn't taste very eggy at all. I'll try reducing the milk next time. The crust however was perfect! Although I made it too thick and like another reviewer said, if my crusts were thinner, it would've burned in the high heat. There were too much custard filling as well! I'm going to have to make more crust to use up the rest.

Korean BBQ Beef (Pul-Kogi)

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2007
I marinated the short ribs, chicken, and mushroom (all in the sauce) for 24 hours and I ate them today. SO GOOD! Tasted just like the ribs I had in a Korean BBQ restaurant in Toronto! The only thing was even though I split the meat into several zipped bags and laid them down flat to have as much contact with the sauce as possible, some of the meat did not soak in the sauce. Next time I'll double the portions for the sauce to make sure the meat are marinated well. Thanks for the recipe! It's definitely a winner.

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
I made this for my mom's friends and they loved it! I had to increase the baking time to get the crust to become golden brown and the filling was somewhat runny but we just drizzled the runny sauce over the vanilla icecream so it was still good!
