Raspberry Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
Made as muffins (350 for 22 minutes). Excellent. Used 1 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Added a tsp of vanilla and tsp of cinnamon. Upped the raspberries to 2 cups. Whole family loved them. Thanks!

Grilled Venison Backstrap

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2010
My husband made this for our family. Usually not the family cook, he did a great job and it was delicious. I don't like Venison and I ended up eating three pieces. He used Jack Daniels BBQ sauce.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
I make a lot of bread recipes. My husband and children loved this recipe. I used my bread machine for the dough cycle. I ended up braiding the dough. I let it rise again for 30 minutes and baked it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Light and very moist. Very lovely. This will be my go-to recipe for white bread.

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Pan Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
Very overdone when left in the oven 25 minutes. Take out at 20 minutes at the most. Otherwise an oldie but goodie.

Sesame Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I didn't like these wings. Not very flavorful for all the ingredients. Ended up broiling these for a few minutes because they did not crisp up just baking.

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
This recipe was both easy to prepare and delicious. My husband asked if I could make it often. It's a keeper.

German Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
This is a nice casserole. Sometimes I either add boiled kielbasa to the casserole or serve it along side the casserole. My family loves it.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This is a great chocolate cake recipe. Hides the "cake mix" taste well. Stays fresh for days and is good cold or at room temp. I top with ganache - it is my husbands favorite cake and his birthday cake request. I also substitute cold coffee for the warm water. Adds a little complexity.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2007
Not the best pumpkin pie recipe. The Libbys recipe is much better.

Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
This is the best pumpkin cheesecake recipe I have made. I used a sour cream topping and applied it after baking the cheesecake. I would bake an additional 5 minutes. Gets better with age. Super!

Salmon Cakes III

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
These salmon cakes were great. Used two 10oz cans of salmon filets from Sams Club and added a little Old Bay Seasoning. My husband loved them. Restaurant quality.

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
This is lovely. I make this in an 8x8 dish using drained thawed strawberries. I bake it about 10 minutes longer. Makes a deeper dessert.

This was just ok but nothing special. Probably won't make again.

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
These are the best ribs. I actually bake them at 325 for the 2-1/2 hours and they are perfect. I usually remove them from the foil and either broil or grill them to browm them up. Hard to find better ribs in a restaurant.

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
This was fine but certainly not the best trifle I have made. Filling was pretty sparce. I suggest making a double batch. A little dry as well. No raves from my guests over this dessert.

Very good but very greasy. Next time I will use low fat swiss and mayo. Served with rye triscuits.

This cake is now my husbands favorite. Used strong brewed coffee in place of the liquor. Covered with ganache and chocolate covered strawberries. Very pretty and yummy.

Grandma's Doughnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
These were great. Just like the doughnuts at the cider mill. Dipped in cinnamon sugar. These will burn very quickly. Fried at 300 degrees.
