About this Cook
Our family has some severe food allergies, therefore we cook almost everything at home. Asian/SE Asian are the recipes that I try that are the most out of my comfort zone.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake but really, any great, healthy meal that my family will eat (they will try anything once) quickly becomes a favorite thing to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom specialized in comfort foods so I guess that is what I gravitate to when looking to prepare traditional dishes.
My cooking triumphs
Moving away from prepared items in recipes (e.g.Campbells soup) to the use of whole foods. It added time, but I've learned to pre-cook and menu plan in an effort to be prepared each week for our meals.
My cooking tragedies
I'm still looking for a great pesto sauce and biscotti without the use of nuts.

Pasta Fagioli Soup II
Based on other reviews I also substituted Italian sausage for the bacon and made these other adjustments as well, used additional chicken broth inplace of the water, used frozen spinach ilo canned and eliminated the garlic power and only used 1 tbs of fresh garlic. Served with parmesan and the family loved it.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms
The hardest part about making these mushrooms is making enough. They are always the first thing gone when I have an appetizer party. The second most difficult part is getting the cooked garlic smell out of my house before the guests arrive. I will try the "make ahead method" someone outlined in their review to minimize the scent.

Jalapeno Popper Spread
Love this dip! In a pinch (Fresh jalapenos did not look great at the store) I used diced, jarred jalapenos it still rocked the party!
