Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
SO salty! I followed the recipe to a "T" and did not change anything - way too salty. We had to add more mayo & sugar to cut the saltiness. I did not care for this.

Hawaiian Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2011
AMAZING! I originally searched the ingredients I had b/c I needed to clean out the pantry. I didn't have maraschino cherries but everything else combined amazingly! Definitely NOT on my diet but I can definitely see ways to make it more figure friendly in the future (egg whites, applesauce, etc) Thank you for sharing such a great recipe - it's a hit!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
Take 2 - MUCH BETTER! OK the first time I did this, I threw the onion, tomato, cilantro & garlic in the food processor - BIG MISTAKE! Do NOT do this! It was horrible guacamole! It was more salsa than guacamole! So the 2nd time I made it I used around 1/2 cup of onion that I chopped myself, and 2 small tomatoes that I chopped myself. Mixed together with minced garlic & Cilantro & set aside. I then mashed up the 3 Avocados, and chopped up 1/2 of one so it was nice and chunky. Added in the onion/tomato mixture with the Lime Juice. PERFECTION! Oh and to keep from browning - we've learned that leaving the seed of 1 avocado pressed into the top of the guacamole & then covering it somehow keeps it from browning! Not sure why but whatever works!! Try this recipe, you won't be disappointed - just don't throw it in the food processor! Thanks for sharing - I will make from here on out!!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
This is OUTSTANDING!! It tastes EXACTLY like the frosting at the bakery. I needed a durable frosting for cupcakes for my son's school and this was it! Thank so much for sharing! Oh, I halved the recipe b/c seriously - it made a LOT of frosting and I didn't need THAT much! But it came out perfect - I forgot to buy heavy cream & used 2% milk (b/c that's all I had) Perfect fluffy frosting is what I got! I will not be looking for another recipe - this will be my go-to frosting from now on. Will never buy yucky canned frosting again!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Hands down, without a doubt - THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe!! I will never use another - thank you so much for sharing!! I followed the recipe exactly, using milk chocolate chips because that's what I had on hand. Just Awesome! Please note - you MUST refrigerate the dough after combining!! I've baked enough that I always chill the dough as well as use parchment paper to bake on. They come out perfect every time! (Never thin or spread out) Thanks so much for sharing - this one's a keeper & I will look no further!!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I'm sorry - I followed this recipe to a "T" and they were without a doubt THE worst brownies ever. I always bake for my husband's work & one of the girls recently became a vegan. I'll admit I have never made vegan recipes before so perhaps my tastes vary - they were very bland, and just didn't even resemble brownies. I doubt I'll even send them in - just enough for her. I have a reputation to uphold after all!! Thanks for sharing but I won't make again.

Baked Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
These were AMAZING!! I'd give them 10 stars if I could!! I love onion rings but they do NOT fit into my diet so I decided to try these. Even my 5 year old loved them! I made them tonight & he wanted seconds! Since we were out (I scaled down the recipe) he asked if I'd make them tomorrow! I didn't do the bag method - I used 2 bowls. One for the breadcrumbs, one for the egg. I also used egg whites & not the entire egg to make them even more figure friendly. I did double dip them though - dipped in egg then crumbs, back in the egg & back in the crumbs. Had no problems with them sticking either - they were perfect. I didn't have thyme so I used S & P, Paprika & some Garlic Powder. They were FANTASTIC! Thanks for such an awesome recipe - this one will be a staple in my house for appetizer night & football nights! My husband can't wait to try them once he's off night shifts!

Maple Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
It was okay...I made this recipe twice & both times used a candy thermometer. The first time turned out what I believe is to be expected - but it wasn't soft. It was kind of hard - did anyone else have this problem? The second time, my chocolate got scorched so that was my fault. I should've added the chocolate after a little longer after the nuts & marshmallows to give the mixture a chance to cool. I think I'll try a different recipe next time I attempt fudge but thank you for sharing anyway!!

Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Bacon Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
WOW! I'll be honest, the 1st time I saw this recipe I was pregnant & wanted everything! I didn't make them b/c everyone else thought I was nuts (esp my hubby) so I saved the recipe. Well, I am no longer pregnant & decided to make them today just to see what they'd be like - I am NOT disappointed! I followed the recipe exactly (but did not have the maple bacon - I buy turkey bacon so I used that) It was hard not to use brown sugar in a chocolate chip cookie recipe but I resisted since I wanted to make it the exact way the author did. Make these! Do not change things around & give this recipe a lower rating than it deserves!! It's fantastic & I know I'll be making it again!! My 5 year old son just said, "Mmm! I like bacon!" :o) Can't wait for the hubs to get home & try!

World's Best Scones! From Scotland to the Savoy to the U.S.

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Fantastic recipe - thanks for sharing! I also grated the frozen butter & that worked GREAT! I added cherry craisins & some orange zest. After the egg wash I sprinkled with some sugar & they were perfect. Crunchy on the outside, moist & soft on the inside. I took these to my husband's work & got rave reviews. Next I'm going to try bluberries with some vanilla extract & then some chocolate chip ones - definitely a keeper!

Caramel Apple Bars III

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
This was waaay too sweet for me & I had to throw the whole thing out - my son couldn't even eat it. I cut back on the sugar but it was still too much. Thank you for sharing, but I'll try another recipe next time.

Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
So Good!! Wow! OK I made a few changes - I only used 1 1/4 cups sugar & I used applesauce instead of the oil, I also ran out of cinnamon so I only used 2 tsp - it's Perfect!! I was craving blueberries instead of strawberries & it turned out so unbelievably good. I can't wait to try other fruits with this. Thank you so much for sharing!

Berry Shortbread Dreams

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Unbelievable! These went SO fast at my husband's work & I myself couldn't stop eating them! (Definitely putting in extra time at the gym!!) I made one batch with vanilla & one with almond extracts & both were yummy! I did use a pastry bag to fill them with & that was so much easier. Definitely recommended for any occasion!

This is the BEST Gingersnap cookie recipe EVER! Soo easy! I just made these for a cookie drive & they were awesome! I usually make gingerbread men but they're so time consuming & just a lot of work - these were super easy & yummy! Thanks for another recipe I will add to my Christmas Cookie List!!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
Excellent Idea - Thank You! I used this as a guide but did things really differently - we LOVE fried turkey but it's not exactly health conscious so I used the same seasonings (Cajun) & did what the others suggested - I cut up celery & onions, placed them on the bottom & poured 1/4 cup Chicken Stock then put my 3 lb turkey breast on top! So moist & yummy - I will definitely use the slow cooker to cook turkey in the future!

Baked Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
OMG This was the BEST! Thank you for FINALLY giving me a lower fat/calorie version of my favorite! The guys at my husband's work LOVED this & no one even knew it was low fat! The only change I made was the buttermilk - I didn't have any so I used skim milk (since that's what was in the fridge.) Didn't seem to make any difference & was still yummy! Thanks for such a great recipe!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
I REALLY liked this recipe & so did my picky toddler! I did slash the calories though by using deli thin ham, reduced fat swiss cheese & reduced fat cream soup. I'm personally on WW & got it down to 5 points for those of you that are on it too. Don't forget to add your seasoning - garlic powder worked very well! Thanks for such a great idea for the slowcooker - I appreciate it!!

Meatloaf Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
My husband LOVED this recipe - said "This one's a keeper!" I took "PotatoFreak's" suggestion & used multiple cheeses & pepperoni on the inside. Afterplacing the meatloaf in the pan, I wrapped it in bacon, baked for 1hr & 10 minutes covered, then 20 minutes uncovered. Moist & perfect! Thank you so much for a great dish!
