Tomatillo Salsa Verde

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2012
After all the great reviews, I must have done something wrong. VERY runny. I used 2 pounds tomatillos and 4 cups water. I would have preferred it to be much thicker. I'm not sure how to use it so runny. It is also a bit bitter. My first time using tomatillos so maybe I didn't know how to judge the ripeness? EDITED: In reviewing a few other recipes, I think I misunderstood that this is supposed to be runny. I read that roasting the tomatillos first might make the sauce thicker or I can try adding less water if I don't want it to run all over the plate. I hope to experiment more with tomatillos. I guess I expected something else.

Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
My semi-sweet chocolate layer and white chocolate layer separated. While it is yummy, it is not as nice to give as gifts looking like this. If I do it again I will not do the double layer.

Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2010
I made it as written except that I doubled the recipe. I loved the flavor with the orange and the fact that this recipe had all basic ingredients (nothing processed except the sugar). However, my jam turned out rather runny. :( The doubled recipe made 12 jars (8oz jelly jars) with the 5 pounds of fresh rhubarb.

Fiesta Fry Pan Dinner

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
I made this recipe almost as it is posted. Used ground beef and left out the onions because I was in a hurry and the kids don't appreciate them as much. Used a whole packet of seasoning that I had on hand but will definitely use my own taco seasoning mix next time. Used cooked brown rice. Added tomato juice instead of water. I was very pleased with the taste and will definitely be making it again!

Best Wild Rice Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
I was so excited to try this since the ingredients look marvelous and I'm always looking for wheat & dairy-free recipes. I found it bland until I got up in the middle of dinner and added chopped orange segments to it. Next time I will try it with some orange juice mixed into the vinegar/oil. We also ate it over chopped romaine for a full salad effect. I will definitly make this recipe again, but with changes to add flavor. Perfect for left over rotisserie chicken. Thanks for the inspiration!

Lemon Chicken Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
I was excited to try this recipe because it is a healthier meal than many other meals on this site. We used brown rice and less chicken. I used fresh lemons. Unfortunately, the lemon/chicken broth taste just didn't work for us. A very strange taste. I make a similar recipe based on Wedding Soup with turkey meatballs, brown rice, carrots and spinach in chicken broth that we much prefer.

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
Rich in chocolate taste! Was exactly what I needed to frost 9x9 brownies. Didn't seem like enough for a full cake. I will definitely make again, but will double for a cake.

Asian Carryout Noodles

I wasn't impressed. It just wasn't what the title implied. I haven't tasted take-out like this.
