About this Cook
I am a retired school teacher and we moved to the country. We live near Knob Noster, MO...which may not ring any bells, but it is close to Whiteman AFB home of the B-2 bomber. Our home is in the flight line and it is impressive to watch those big birds go over to land. I really love animals, expecially horses. I have five cats and four dogs. I used to have eight horses, but they have all passed away over the years. I miss them so much! I have 5 beautiful grandchildren Tavia 9, Avorey almost 4 and Olivia almost 2 and the twins, Brynn and Brody almost 5 months. I love them all so much. I am especially excided to have a grandson. My first boy! Not that I love him more than the girls, but he is a one of a kind. Love to cook and walk and exchange recipes. I can cook and watch deer, wild turkey, and sometimes a lone bobcat out my kitchen window. I love to travel and my fantasy destination would be a trip to Ireland the home of a cook I just met (on line here, of course) Trishie...
My favorite things to cook
I love Italian foods, expecially Lasagna, but like to try new foods everyday. I love to eat but the food has to be really great food. I don't like ordinary food or fast no has to be the "good stuff"!!I am starting to develop a taste for Indian food. Loved the recipe on here for Curried Coconut Chicken! My son-in-law makes this dish I love called cabbage rolls. It is kind of like a little meat loaf inside of a cabbage leaf! He is also a great dessert cook! That is Jeremy!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family (mother's side) used to eat together every Sunday and I looked forward to dinner each week. We always had a big rump roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, slaw, different veggies, homemade mac-n-cheese and my aunt Dixie made several delicious pies every week. Now, my family, gets together only on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas for big dinners. It is a lot of work but I love the get togethers.
My cooking triumphs
I'm an excellent pie maker. I learned when I was very little from my aunt Dixie. I have to say haven't tried any better than my own. I love to makes desserts best and now I'm into different kinds of cheesecakes.
My cooking tragedies
Every once in a while I make a mess of something, but usually don't have any tragedies! I made some homemade cinnamon rolls yesterday that turned out tough and not too tasty! But that doesn't happen very often.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III
I made this cake on the 4th and it was delicious and sooo fast!! Just threw it together and put strawberries and whipped cream on top. It was great and I know it will always be my strawberry cake!

Fluffy Canadian Pancakes
I am usually very positive about recipies from this site; however, I did not care for these pancakes. They were fluffy, but I felt, tasteless. I believe salt would help. Sorry but these are not a keeper for me.

Black Forest Cake I
This is a delicious chocolate cake to begin with so with the toppings it is excellent! I was in a hurry last night and didn't want to go to the trouble to make a layer cake, so just dumped the cake in a 9x12 greesed and floured pan. We had no cherries, but had some rasberries. I made the topping with them and added a little cool whip. It was still delicious. This is not to take anything away from the original, however, just wanted to try the cake in a 9x12 pan for speed. This cake stands on its own in any shape and with any topping!
