Southern Moon Pies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
Overall, I really liked this recipe. Although the moon pies are very rich, I liked how the sweetness of the filling balanced out the mild sweetness of the cookie. I made a double batch of the filling as some people suggested and found it too sweet for my taste. I ate a half a moon pie and am still on my sugar high. I will definitely make this again but won't double the filling.

Pork Roast with Thyme

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
I thought the recipe was OK, but not spectacular. I was very flavorful, but just did not suit my tastes. I will probably check out some other pork recipes.

Chocolate Fudgy Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
We have a family cookie bake each year and I usually select new cookie recipes to try. One recipe I chose included Nutella and hazelnuts. I purchased Nutella, but was unable to find shelled hazelnuts at my grocery store. I hopped on to find an alternative recipe. This one should've been my first choice! It definitely peaked everyone's interest. I followed the recipe exactly (including the food coloring - I used red). It was difficult to tell by appearance when the cookies were done since there isn't any definite browning, but I stuck with the 10 min. bake time. The Nutella resulted in a moist, almost gooey center which remained soft after the cookies cooled. This recipe was rated a keeper by five out of five adults at our cookie bake. I will definitely hang on to this one!

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
The recipe was quick and easy. The pork turned out tender and juicy. The skillet I used was not large enough to hold all of the pork in a single layer so I ended up adding more white wine to make sure more than the bottom layer was cooking. I rotated the chops every few minutes until they were done. I also reduced the amount of salt slightly. This one is a keeper.

Easy dish to make with items easily found in the kitchen. The chicken had a good flavor and came out very juicy.
