Aunt Lillian's Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2010
Very funny, I looked up this recipe after my son saw the crumb cake episode of Cake Boss too! Made cake exactly as directed, only changed the topping as others recommended. Delicious, moist, coffee type cake. Lots of 'yums' heard in our family! Thanks for sharing.

Canadian Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
This is a great low/no fat cookie! I did like others suggested and rolled the dough in sugar then flattened slightly on the cookie sheet before baking for about 8 minutes. I found the ginger a little too strong (my kids said 'way too spicy!), so next time I will use less ginger and maybe experiment with other spices, such as a little cinnamon and nutmeg. Overall, they stay moist for a good week and they do mellow in flavor after the first day. Don't judge them on the first day flavor!

Pancakes II

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2006
These were great in a pinch! They do need more sugar however and I added some vanilla too. I think this is a really good recipe to add fruit to--I did some with frozen blueberries and they were very tasty. They are a heavier pancake though so if you're looking for light and fluffy this isn't the recipe for you.

Easy Arroz con Gandules

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2006
I would give it an A+++ for flavor! But I think I added to much tomato sauce and it was very mushy--I was really disappointed because the flavor is so good. I would definitely try it again and add less tomato sauce and water too. The leftover sofrito made awesome beans to serve over rice by adding some tomato sauce to the sofrito and letting simmer with black beans. Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
This is one of my most favorite recipes off this site. I make often because I always have these ingredients on hand. They are great as a weeknight dessert as you can make them while suppers cooking and as a dessert to take to a shower or potluck. They taste awesome served warm with vanilla icecream!

Chinese Fried Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
This was a great side dish for the Orange honey garlic chicken on this site. I didn't have enough packages of ramen noodles so I used regular pasta (speghetti) and broke it half b4 boiling. I also added 2 cloves garlic with the oil to cook the veggies. I used frozen veggies and they worked great! I put a squeeze of lemon on before serving and we all really enjoyed it. I agree with others to only use one packet of seasoning or it could tend to be too salty. Thanks for a quick and easy addition to week night cooking!

Orange Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
Very nice recipe! I use just thighs and drumsticks and add 2 more cloves of garlic. I put it all in a Ziploc for a day or 2 in the fridge--turning it every 8-12 hours and then during the week I have a quick and easy meal by just making rice and broccoli to go with it. By marinating 2-3 days, the meat is really tender and full of flavor.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

I have made this several times and it's always a hit. It stays moist for a few days and so can be made well ahead of time. Highly recommended!

Pumpkin Bread V

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
This recipe turned out nicely. I doubled it and did one loaf and one pan of mini muffins for my kids. It made 24 mini muffins baked for 12-15mins. They came out perfect! Thanks for sharing. Will use again.
