Slow Cooker Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Lovely recipe, simple and no hassle. My bf and I are big mushroom fans so I substituted cream of mushroom soup and also added sliced mushrooms. With crusty French bread made a wonderful meal for a cold evening and will definitely make it again.

Mango Gazpacho

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
As a matter of personal taste, I put everything in the blender, after trying it according to the recipe; either way I give it five stars. A unique twist on the original, and very refreshing.

Tomatillo Guacamole

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
Wow! I have to say, this was my first guac, and it won't be my last. Very, very good. Even my Russian boyfriend and his friends who aren't accostomed to avocadoes ate it up! Five stars!

Mango Chutney

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2006
PLEASE, if you scale down the recipe, adjust your cooking time accordingly. Don't make stupid amateur mistakes like me and burn the whole batch. I'm sure it's a good recipe otherwise.

Eggplant and Mushrooms with Wild Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
I gave this four stars because I think there are some inherantly good ideas and many possibilities for this recipe - but as is, it's a bit creamy/soupy for my taste. I think I'll try this again with twice the rice and poured over chicken and then baked, or as a modified stroganoff with pieces of chicken or pork. Nevertheless, it was yummy, it just needs to be served carefully so as not to be overpowering.

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This is SO GOOD! We devoured it. The rice wine (I used Sake same thing right?) really makes for a YUMMY sauce. Five stars all the way!

Indian Hot Curried Mangos with Tofu

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
Great recipe. Very adaptable. AND it enlightened me to the possibilities of the surprisingly versatile mango! Laura, maybe it depends on how you cooked the chicken. One thing that you could try, if you didn't already, is to cook the chicken first; remove to a platter and keep warm; cook your other ingrediants; add the chicken back in, add your sauce, etc. Then you should be okay. Again, great recipe, thanks for sharing!

Bottom Round Roast with Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
Great recipe, and so simple! Took me five minutes to put together and it smelled so good cooking! Next time I'll cook for three hours instead of four; consider what you're cooking in etc. when you decide how long. And don't peek!

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2006
So good, and smelled wonderful cooking. If anything I would cut down the cooking time...but even so they had a great flavor and were so simple, with a rice pilaf and leftover green beans. Great for a weeknight meal. Thanks!

No-Fuss Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
This is a good, simple recipe. I don't know what the other reviewers were complaining about, unless they wanted someone to do the work for them - apparantely seasoning the chicken and doing a little prep was too much fuss. Who'd have known?

Mansaka

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
Made this, loved it. The only thing I'll do differently next time is cook the potatoes longer or boil them - my microwave isn't that powerful which is something to consider. But it was very tasty and an easy, warming weekday meal. Thanks!

Autumn Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2006
Good recipe! The cranberries are a MUST. The store didn't have ground turkey; I used a pork/beef blend. I also added chopped onion and minced garlic, and couldn't find cardamom so used sage - not sure if they're similar but it worked! Thank you, this is a great seasonal recipe.

Chutney Baked Brie

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
I hate to be the voice of dissent, but something went horribly wrong here. I gave this 5 stars as the recipe is inherently good but I think one needs to consider some factors: 1)the size of your brie wheel, 2)the quality of your brie, and 3)the power of your oven. I bought a very good, very soft brie for this, and it was too small for a whole jar of chutney and 1 cup of cashews, so I downsized on that; however, 15 minutes in the oven was overkill. I'll try it again for a shorter time, as the flavors go together wonderfully. Thanks!

Pancho Villa Baked Tilapia

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2007
Very nice. I didn't have canned so I chopped fresh, peeled tomato and one fresh chile, about a cup and a quarter. On the other hand I didn't have fresh cilantro so used dried. This fish is more poached than baked, as it cooks in the lime and tomato juices, which gives it a wonderful flavor and makes for a quick weeknight meal. My bf never had tilapia this way and really liked it. Thank you!

This was definitely the most interesting cornbread I've ever had! It was fine as is but I think next time I'll use whole kernel corn and see how it comes out. Thanks!

Such a nice, delicate flavor. I served it with a salmon recipe from this site and it was great and sooooo easy! However I think this makes way more than 4 servings. Thanks for a great recipe!
