Pumpkin Roll with Toffee Cream Filling and Caramel Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2005
EXCELLENT. I made this for Thanksgiving and it got gobbled up so fast there wasn't even a slice to take home! Very sad! I think this is probably the best-tasting cake I have ever made.

Plum Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2005
This is really yummy and very cakelike. It would make an excellent homebaked gift for the holidays, and is a lot easier than making a thousand batches of cookies!

This recipe was exactly what I was looking for - simple, no-fuss comfort food.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2006
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Although this is not technically a "real Buttercream", the shortening makes this taste like a frosting you would get at a bakery. It is also great for decorating - it has the perfect stiffness. Everyone loved it when I used it for my 4-year-old's birthday cake.

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
The best chili recipe I've found - although it was a little thin. Maybe one less can of chicken broth would do the trick. My brother, husband and kids all loved it, and I will definitely make Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili again!

Peanut Butter Bars III

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I made these for a pot luck, and they didn't get put out because someone had a peanut allergy. I tried them when I got home and was relieved that no one ate them! Really not good at all. The base is just a tasteless vehicle for the topping. A waste of ingredients.

Awesome Easy Pasta

Reviewed: May 18, 2007
I agree with the previous reviewer - the sauce won't thicken the way it should. The flavor is really good, though, so I will make it again, with some changes. Before combining the cream and broth, I'm going to make a roux of butter and flour (2 tablespoons of each) by melting the butter, then adding the flour and stirring. Then I will add the broth and cream and proceed as directed. I will probably also add a couple more pieces of bacon. Other than that, this recipe is YUMMY.

Real N'awlins Muffuletta

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I made a few changes: skipped the capers, used Mezzetta Italian mix with cauliflower, celery and carrot, used hot pickled chili peppers in place of the pepperoncinis, skipped canola oil (used a little extra EVOO) and skipped the mortadella. Made a great muffaletta, according to my guests (I don't eat meat so didn't try this one).

Vegetarian Gravy

Really fantastic. Better than any turkey gravy I ever made back in my meat-eating days!

Candy Bar Fudge

It was just OK for the amount of effort involved! I'm still looking for the right fudge recipe...

Cornbread I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2014
This is exactly the kind of cornbread I need in my life! Raised in southern Mississippi and I don't believe in sweet cornbread. The only thing that I'm going to do differently next time is use butter instead of the shortening. But it's great with shortening too. :)

Black Bean and Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2014
I used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth, left out the yogurt and garnished with sour cream. I also drained the black beans. We (me AND my sometimes-picky kids) LOVED it, after adding some salt. I only realized there was none in the recipe after we sat down to eat. Oh, I also threw the Rotel into the food processor with the beans, because my son prefers tomatoes he can't see. ??

Cherry Spice Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2014
I made this in my Bundt pan after reading several reviews suggesting it, but it was too dense for me. Might have been better as a layer cake... (That's what I get for making alterations before trying the original!) The icing was great.
