Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
Just like my grandmother used to make! I am not a fan of the "pudding with rice in it" variety.. this was exactly as I remember it from my childhood. Super delicious and loved by everyone. I made it exactly as the recipe called I just served it with some warm real maple syrup to drizzle over the top before we ate. Thank you for sharing!

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
I just made this today for a Christmas Eve treat with my husband! I ended up leaving in the crock pot for about 8 hours on low because we waited for the kids to go to bed to enjoy it. It was wonderful and it tastes like Christmas in a glass. It sure took the pain out of wrapping presents. I made it exactly like the recipe... but there are a few things I would do differently next time. I used the spiced rum a few people recommended.. but I thought this was a little too much spice flavor next time I will use a gold rum for a lighter taste. I also got lazy and used cool whip. This was TOO SWEET! Next time I will be whipping my own cream. It was a keeper recipe.. Thank you so much for sharing!

We loved these!! Me and my kids just made these this morning. They are easy and fun to make with the little ones. Very chewy and crunchy... YUM! We made ours with the walnuts suggested in the description and kept everything just as it was. Wonderful!! Definitely a keeper recipe, thank you for sharing!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
I just made a double batch of this bread. Sooo wonderful and embodies everything I love about the fall. The taste and smell of it cooking is just divine. Thank you so much for this recipe. We also added roasted pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips to one loaves of this bread and it was wonderful.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
Excellent! We made these just like the recipe for a church dinner and ended up making a second batch when we got home. I didn't change a thing and they came out perfect!! So "fudge-y" and chewy!! This is our new favorite brownie! Thank you so much for sharing!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
I have no words to describe how tasty this is! I am so happy this was posted. I LOVE jalapeno poppers but never make them because it's just time consuming. This has that yummy popper flavor and all its missing is the breading. I have served this on small toasted bread rounds, crackers, chips and my kids favorite... celery sticks. It's so easy to make and a great flavor. I make it like the recipe calls but we prefer to eat it after chilled over night. I also take some raspberry seedless jam and mix in a little cayenne pepper that I keep on the side, it adds a little fruity zip like some places have to dip the poppers in. Everyone loves this recipe!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
This is excellent! I made a sweet potato pie for the first time using this exact recipe and everyone loved it and requested it again a week later. The second time I actually left out the nutmeg (I'm not a fan), doubled the recipe to make two pies at once and accidentally used three pounds of sweet potato and everyone adored it. I got a lot of compliments about really being able to taste the sweet potato. This is definitely the recipe I will use from now on.

Tuna Fish Cakes

We Love these in our family! They make a great quick and flavorful dinner. I always serve them on whole grain hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato and mayo with some oven roasted potatoes on the side. Always a big hit!

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
We liked this recipe and it was a great addition to our Mexican Cuisine night. We tried it first with the flour tortillas and then next time tried it with frozen O'brien potatoes! YUMMY! The only request I had was to next time add some more spice to it, so next time I will be adding some Cumin and Chili powder. I also would try it with the Monterrey jack and cheddar mixed cheese. Thanks for the recipe.

Corny Mexican Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
This is such a great salad for summer. The first time I made it exactly like the recipe. It was the perfect side dish for our Taco Night when we wanted something a little different. Then the next time, I changed some things. I left out the avocado and added 2 extra tomatoes and an extra can of mexicorn. Instead of the hot sauce I added chili powder and cumin. Then topped it off with a bit of cilantro. It was awesome to start with and awesome with changes so I definitely recommend. This is one of my family's new favorite salads. Thanks for the great recipe.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
These were OK.. but not my favorite. Everyone in our house really enjoys the dense chewy fudge-like brownies, and this recipe was more on the "flavored like fudge brownies but textured like cake" side. Very easy for my daughter to help me make in the kitchen and the icing tasted OK... But, next time I will keep my eye out for the chewy fudge brownies we all enjoy. Thanks for the recipe though! :)

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I LOVE THIS RECIPE!! It does take a bit of practice and a really good thermometer. Fudge is so difficult to make if you aren't sure what you're doing. My advice is buy a lot of sugar and practice. When you get it down it will be so worth it. This recipe is an excellent way to start. Set aside some time, be patient and follow the directions exactly. It is so worth it!

Raisin Sour Cream Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
This was a wonderful pie that reminded me of a raisin pie I used to have as a child around the holidays. I made this along with 4 other holiday pies and the only thing I didn't like was that everyone ate up the raisin pie in just a few hours and I only got one piece! Next time I will make 2!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I love these!! My daughter loves these! We had so much fun making them and they are easy as can be. They take some time to cover in chocolate and decorate but that is the best part of making them. So much better than the hum drum cake and we had a marvelous time customizing them to what everyone loves. My favorite is red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting covered in white chocolate! I will be making these all the time as a nice after dinner treat.

White Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
Easy, quick and tastes fantastic. Very smooth texture and deliciously rich flavor. It is a bit softer than the old fashioned chocolate fudge that I adore and transporting this does takes planning since it MUST not sit out of the fridge for even a short time without melting. The first time I made it was over the holidays so all I did differently was to add a drop of red and a drop of green food coloring that I swirled through the fudge. Very Pretty. Everyone loved it and only lasted a few hours so I will be making this in a double batch next time.

Maple Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
These were very good. I added them to the long list of cookies we bake over the holidays as maple just says... "FAMILY". I did wish the maple flavor was stronger but I loved the chewiness of the cookie and they were so simple to make with my daughter. Any cookie that you can just roll into balls and bake have my vote. Super Easy & Yummy!

Healing Cabbage Soup

This soup was perfect and just in time for the cold and flu season. I have made it twice in the last few months. Each time exactly as the recipe states and my family loves it! I will definitely make this whenever someone is feeling under the weather. Thanks for this recipe.

Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
These burgers were excellent and a big hit with the kids! So easy to make and a lot of flavor. We have made these a few times since I found the recipe, each time exactly as posted. We also used a more expensive ground sirloin as a nice treat and cheaper alternative to steak, this compliments the flavors of the ingredients amazingly. The only change I would like to try is a very sharp cheddar and shred it myself.. I think I would love the extra kick. Thanks for this recipe.

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Wonderful recipe! It took a lot of work to get it kneaded enough, but definitely worth it. Also, I tried just using the butter and after scraping the fondant off my hands forever I tried the Crisco idea mentioned by a few other reviews... this worked perfectly and I had no other problems with stickiness. Great flavor and was a fun project to do with my daughter. I will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks!
