Mini Crescent Dogs

At 375, after 7 minutes, these were black on the bottom and the dough was raw....thankfully, I was not taking to a party. "Do Over" at 325, hope this works. Very disappointed. Tasty when done right.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Easy to make, crowd pleaser. It may not be 'sophisticated' but a great, comfort food. I did saute the onions down to mellow them out some. I added a touch of dry mustard to the sauce. Loved it as a hearty side.

Amish Macaroni Salad

I used Mayo and ~1/3cup of sugar and it was perfect. Regardless of if it's SUPPOSED to be a sweet dish, I prefer it more savory. Otherwise, followed the recipe. It was delicious. Perfect for our tailgate.

Fast Chicken Soup Base

I can't believe I haven't made this sooner. This is crazy good as is, throw in a thin egg noodle and you're giving grandma a run for her money. Love it. Followed as is.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Excellent. I felt like it was more of a chili than a soup, though. I may try blending JUST the black beans after they're done cooking but prior to adding the other ingredients. Just looking for a little more black bean flavor. So good, will make again!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

As others suggested, double the jalapenos. I still thought that was tame but so good and totally acceptable at a party (not blazing hot). Plain panko breadcrumbs on top are the perfect addition.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

This is, hands down, the best Breakfast Casserole I have ever made. Hubs does not like the 'bready' variety (too much fluff and not enough stuff) and the french toast variety just leave him hungry. I followed this as written and it was great - served to a brunch crowd that killed it. I'm a salt hound so that's the only thing I would add. Wasn't sure with all the bacon and cheese but the potatoes need a bit of salt. A+ in my book.

Worth the effort. Top notch recipe. Always make more, they freeze and reconstitute just fine. It's no more effort to make six potatoes than it is to do 4. Great for company.

Make Ahead French Toast

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

I like the water chestnuts for the extra crunch. This is the 'traditional' recipe that you remember! Get the spinach very dry - otherwise, it'll make the dip stringy and soupy.

Elegant Pork Loin Roast

I'm glad that I cook to temp and not time, this would have been bacon at 3 hours. I used a full 4lbs of roast. It presented very well and looked pretty but the meat was not particularly moist or tasty. Maybe the crock pot is the way to go for this one as others have suggested.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Loved it! The only thing I would change is to cut the pears a bit larger, maybe quarter slices. I chopped and they tended to settle at the bottom. Christmas crowd loved it and the light flavored dressing (not over dressed like most).
