About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! I love trying new dessert recipes, especially cookies. I bake them, taste them and then get them out of my house! :-} What's that saying...."If I can't be thin, then I want all my friends to be fat."
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad tried once to institute a food tradition, "Traditional Sunday morning donuts". But it didn't last too long. Maybe only a few weeks. I guess my family isn't much on traditions.
My cooking triumphs
My latest triumph is homemade dinner rolls. They turned out delicious! My husband wanted to know where I bought them.
My cooking tragedies
One time I made an absolutely beautiful apple pie, complete with the lattice work crust on top. When I took it out of the oven, I couldn't have been more please. The smell was fantastic and the visual was even better. I proudly presented it to my husband after dinner, but when I cut it the inside was like soup. The recipe didn't call for flour in the filling and since it was my first apple pie I didn't know to add it. I sat at the table and cried. My beautiful pie was slushy. :-{

Carrot Cake III
I have been making this recipe for years. People rave over how delicious it is. A few notes: If the cake will be frosted, I reduce the sugar to 1 cup. Also I reduce the oil to 1 cup. I find that 1 1/4 makes the cake almost wet. Lastly, sometimes the cake makes my tongue feel weird. Possibly the baking powder is too much.

Banana Crumb Muffins
WOW!!!!!! These are so delicious! Like most people I made a few changes. Oil instead of butter. 1/2 cup WW flour/ 1 cup AP. I only had 2 bananas, so I added one grated apple.

German Apple Cake I
Yummy!!!! As with so many reviews, I cut the sugar back to 1 1/2 cups. That was just nice. Dusted with powdered sugar, it is lovely!
