Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
These were fantastic. I never would have put fresh parsley in a burger before this but wow it gave it such wonderful flavor. I'm sure some of the bad reviews were from those who used dried in place of fresh. My suggestion is don't it really gives it a taste all of its own. I used red onion because I had a half of a red from another recipe I was making that I need to use. I originally intended to grill these but oops out of gas, but they work out great on the stove.

Vidalia Onion Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Excellent. Sort of like a quiche. I put lattice work over the top to fool my kids into thinking we were having "pie" for dinner on april fools day. This would be better as a brunch meal or add maybe some chopped ham to make it a main dinner dish. Dosent work really well as a side.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
Something seemed off with the sauce to me and even with franks red hot which is known for more flavor then heat it was still to spicy for 1 of my kids. I would halve the hot sauce. It had a sort of chemically smell. I tasted some with the chicken then doctored it up with some rice wine vinegar. I doubled the sauce and regretted it, its not the kind you can use in your rice. A light amount made the chicken okay. My oldest asked for seconds but with such mixed reviews I dont think I will be making it again.

Garlic Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Finally I have found a way to get my kids to eat brussel sprouts. I used frozen brussel sprouts that I partially thawed and they worked out great. The whole family loved them.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
This is the first recipe from taste of home that we have actually enjoyed. The batter was thick enough to hold the chocolate chips so they didn't sink to one side. I added a tsp of vanilla and that was my only change. The servings were accurate as well. This made 2 thick pancakes per person.

Cream of Wheat Griddlecakes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
The only thing I did differently was add a little extra flour because it seemed a little to watery. Thought I also used maple and brown sugar cream of wheat. My husband really enjoyed these and I wouldn't hesitate to make them again in the future.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies VI

My husband made these and they came out wonderful and I say that as a non oatmeal raisin cookie lover! I'm sure we will be making these again in the future.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
Nice Hot chocolate pretty much the same as on the back of the container of Hershey's cocoa powder. I topped with fluff, nice for a rainy day.

Corned Beef Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
With so many mixed reviews we had to try this one out. It was a very tasty down home casserole and a terrific way to use up left over corned beef.

Alphabet Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
I don't keep bisquick in the house so I applied the directions to another pancake recipe from this site. It worked really well and my kids loved it.

Cornbread Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
Nice change of pace from the normal pancake. I add a little bit more flour as the batter was a little to liquidy. My family really like these and I will be making them again.

Home-Fried Potatoes

Great way to make homefries a little bit faster. I omitted the green pepper and cooked in a cast iron skillet so i could use less oil.

Egg in a Boat

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
This was really neat. We used fat free butter spray to make it much healthier and my husband grabbed sugar cookie cutter to turn the centers into stars, hearts and flowers. Really fun way to serve eggs, my kids wont touch scrambled but they loved these and it brings back memories of my best friends mom making these for us the morning after a sleepover but we called them Peek-a-Boo eggs.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
The middle of my bacon slices stayed rather soggy and the crispy ends even end drained on paper towels retained way to much of the grease I assume for basically boiling in it in the oven. I may try this again in the future with turkey bacon or on a broiler rack to get it out of the fat.

Buttermilk Pie III

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
My kids went nuts for this recipe! I did misread the directions and used 3 tablespoons of flour instead of 3 teaspoons. When I realized my mistake I just crossed my fingers and prayed since it was already in the oven before I noticed. My oven runs hot and is touchy, it burns everything that bakes for long periods of time so I made a tinfoil tent and baked at 325 for an hour (which would be 350 in most ovens) the middle was still soupy so I jacked it up to 350 (375 for everyone else's oven) and baked it another 20 minutes. It should be a custard consistency throughout when done. I also added cinnamon, I couldn't help myself no pie from blueberry to buttermilk is complete without it in my mind. I've never seen a pie slice disappear so quickly in my house. Next time I will make baked cinnamon apple slices to top and maybe some whipped cream to garnish.

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
I can't believe I'm giving a pie crust a 5 star review. I despise pie crust, but I guess not anymore. This is PERFECT as is with out changing a thing. Those who said it was sticky used to much water. The directions say to add as much as needed to hold together which was just over 1/8 of a cup for me. This will be the last pie crust recipe I ever make.

Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
I added a green pepper and simmered on the stove for 30 minutes instead of a crock pot. I can't see how it would be ready so quickly in a crock pot anyways. I also reduced the butter to 3tbs. Next time I think I will omit it altogether or at least cut it down to one tbs. Its packed with flavor and all the butter seems to do is add fat and calories. Perfect served over rice!

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
I increased the peanut butter by another 1/2 cup. They turned out moist and perfect but I would have like a little more of a peanut butter flavor. I read some of the reviews saying they cooked quickly on the outside and were not completely done on the inside. This will be true if you don't flatten your cookie a bit. There may be chocolate but this is after all still a peanut butter cookie recipe and we don't just press our peanut butter cookies with forks so they look pretty. Any peanut butter cookie recipe would yield the same result if you simply left it in a pile. I rolled them into balls then flattened the cookie in the palm of my hand (I did not use the quarter cup). I will make these again and reduce the flour by 1/2 cup and keep the peanut butter at 1 cup to see if it can get a flavor boost. I am impressed with how soft these stayed.

Angel's Chunky Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
I used canned chicken for ease and added a chopped apple. I also used dill pickle relish. Had a very good flavor. I usually make Carols chicken salad from this sit but this is an excellent stand in when we just want something different.

THE Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
I loved the sauce as is but next time I will double it the pasta really soaked it up overnight. I used franks red hot and it wasn't spicy at all. We omitted ham and replaced it with shrimp. it really didn't need that either. And I used spiral instead of shells. Excellent. Next time I will leave meat our altogether and maybe use cubed cheese.
