Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
If your like me and not a big fan of liquid smoke you will still LOVE this recipe! Actually I many add even a bit more next time as its really mild and not at all over bearing in the least. It was however a bit on the salty side for me so I will decrease it next time.

Hamburgers by Eddie

Very moist. I used worcestershire sauce so they were a little harder to keep together. Maybe next time I'll use BBQ sauce instead next time since no one in my house cares for A-1.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
I've been making this for about 10 years its identical to the recipe on the back of lipton onion soup mix. For a little variation I like to throw in a little garlic and rosemary or whatever suits me at the time. When pressed for time i will diced potatoes and throw them in the microwave to pre cook them then toss them in your mixture. They will finish in about 5 minutes @ 350 after that.

Dressed-Up Broccoli

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This was great but next time I will increase the breading by another half and toss the broccoli in a little bit of garlic butter as only the top pieces of broccoli were touched by the topping.

Shudderuppers

The caramel gets molten by the time the marshmallow is done. After the first one I pulled the caramel off and halfway roasted the marshmallow then added the caramel just to soften it a bit while the marshmallow finished cooking. Nice of pace from the norm.

London Broil II

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Excellent marinade! I let it sit for 6 hours and it was awesome. Next time I will however let it sit over night. Don't skip the scoring step as marinade will only seep so far into the meat even sitting overnight.

Vanilla Ice Cream V

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This was great, the flavor was perfect. A lot of reviewers didnt seem to care for the flavor but I wonder how many used imitation vanilla instead of pure. There is a very distinct difference in the flavors, any recipes where you are not heating the vanilla above 300 degrees you should use pure vanilla. I threw in some mini chocolate chips after it was through. Very quick easy and versatile.

Apple Pie Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This is the best ice cream I have ever had! I chopped my apples instead of leaving them in slices. I also added an extra tsp of cinnamon to the apples by sheer accident, it turned out to be fine. I left out the walnuts as most of my family isn't really fans. Its yummy with out the nuts. For the caramel topping try making the Praline Sundae topping from this site (which is out of this world). I love the chopped bits of oatmeal cookie throughout(the hard store brand cookie works great. Awesome recipe I will be making this all summer!

Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
This was really easy to make although VERY sweet. The freezer plate test worked out really well, I ended up cooking it about 10 minutes longer than when I would have pulled it off. I will make again but I will reduce the sugar probably in half.

Zippy Broccoli

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
Very flavorful. I omitted the hot sauce for my kids and just added a dash to my own plate. Its very good both ways. I also used frozen broccoli which left even more water after cooking. Next time I will drain it out before added the sauce mixture. Very easy and better than the normal plain broccoli.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
This was great. I added some cinnamon (about a tsp). I loved the way the banana's were chunky pieces in the bread. I've only ever mashed these before. Very nice change!

This was good but just kinda plain. I ended up adding some fresh garlic and threw in some yellow squash and zucchini since I didnt have peppers.

Plastic Chocolate

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I made exactly and it did harden over night but it becomes very hard to work with due to the chocolate melting while working with it. I am going to try working with it after chilling or maybe adding less corn syrup.

Divine Hard-Boiled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
These came out beautiful. I do find that cold eggs are really hard to peel so minutes after I transfered to the first batch of cold water I peeled them under running warm water with no problem. The I wrapped in paper toweld and put them into a ziplock bag in the fridge. No more guess work this is great!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
THIS RECIPE IS AMAZING!!!! So much easier than traditional fondant and quite a bit less expensive! I made 3 batches. The first 2 I did by hand & it was kinda messy of course. Then I read the reviews & greased my kitchen aid w/ criso & used the dough hook. 2 bowls of dishes no mess at all I added all the sugar in the mixture instead of kneading a cup in by hand, the mixer can handle it. I sprayed my fondant mat w/ pam when I rolled out, it was just perfect, no problem tranferring it to the cake. It did bubble a bit on the cake in the back but it was a humid warm day & we didnt have AC on yet. For my cake decorations I made a batch w/ a bit more sugar & less marshmallow so it would be stiffer. Worked like a charm. Play with your extracts!!! I did 3 tsps lemon into one 2 tsps raspberry into anoter and 3 tsp orange extract into the 3rd. This is one fondant that you can actually eat, though I must say my kids love it way more than the adults who (unlike kids) dont think marshmallows are the best thing since sliced bread.
