9 - didn't realize mascerate was to plunge fruit in liquid, but what I thought it was wasn't even a choice

Jun. 22, 2009 9:17 am
I got lucky on that one. I pictured a big ole cleaver and going to town.

Jun. 22, 2009 9:19 am

Thanks Avon Lady! And well done.

Jun. 22, 2009 9:30 am
Grrrr! 9 of 10! I got the mascerate question wrong because I use that term (perhaps incorrectly? LOL!) for adding sugar to crushed strawberries and letting them sit in their own juices for a while. My bad! Thanks for sharing the quiz!

I got 9...I got the braise question wrong, the only reason I knew macerate is because I just watched a RR episde where she maceraterd berries and said the word sounded horrible.

Jun. 22, 2009 9:40 am
It is a terrible word!

Jun. 22, 2009 9:55 am
I got 8/10 correct.

Jun. 22, 2009 3:22 pm

9/10... Another budding cook falls victim to those darned macerating fruits.

Jun. 22, 2009 9:14 pm
6 of 10. Not bad since I know next to nothing about cooking. I thought I would do worse. I got the macerating question thanks to a quick game of "eny meny miny moe"

Jun. 23, 2009 4:33 am
I got all 10. I love muddyh20s method of "eny meny miny moe". Silly rabbit. And, yes, macerate is an ugly word and I say we change it! We could make up a word, a pretty word....;)

Jun. 23, 2009 4:35 am
Not too bad, I got 8/10, then got hubby to sit it & he got 4/10! I wont kick him out of the kitchen just yet - theres always the dishes to be done :>

I've never macerated I swear! I missed on clarified butter too.

Jun. 23, 2009 12:09 pm
8 out of 10 for me, too. Lots of us have never macerated. We all masticate, though. Unless you take your food through a straw. I just had to add that one in here.

Jun. 23, 2009 12:21 pm
Toooo funny cowgirl!!!

I always thought mascerate was to chew your food. Or is that macerate?

Jun. 23, 2009 12:30 pm
9/10. I guessed on the mascerate vocab and got it wrong. I thought it meant chopping the fruit. I was surprised that I got braising right!

Jun. 23, 2009 1:16 pm
I always thought it was to have at it with a cleaver... I love my cleaver =)

Jun. 23, 2009 9:21 pm

I was doing soooo well until that braise question popped up. I thought I knew the answer, but not according to MSN. But hey, I'm just an amateur cook!

Jun. 24, 2009 5:34 pm

WOW that was fun!!! I shocked myself by getting 9 out of 10... it got me on the clarified butter!!! LOL

Jun. 25, 2009 5:04 am
for those of you feel you got the wrong results because it said "9-10 out of 10", you didn't! It just means you fall in the category of people who scored between 9 to 10 out of the 10 questions!

Jun. 25, 2009 7:55 am
All 10 right! Thanks Food Network!

That was a fun quiz. I got a 10. Then I took the dessert quiz and only scored a 9. I missed what kind of dessert a 'fool' was. Sounds like a song...

About Me
I have a gaggle of kids*(ages 12,9,6 and 4 months) 2 dogs, a cat, a bunny and a partridge in a pear tree =) luckily just one husband ;). Things are always crazy and we're always on the go. Its a high speed low drag kinda life. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
My favorite things to cook
In the winter I make muffins at least 4 times a week; My kids like to run around singing "do you know the muffin mom, the muffin mom, the muffin mom" I love cooking from scratch and my lil princess Taylor "one teaspoon" Paxton always down for the ride.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mon, Wed, and Sat are set "dessert nights". Sunday's jammie snack days, in the winter we stay in PJ's all day and I prepare a feast of finger food for football and we graze rather than sit formally.
My cooking triumphs
My cakes haves caused something of a stir among family and friends and I never sacrifice taste for a more aesthetically pleasing cake. My husband is a huge fan of my red and white lasagna.
My cooking tragedies
My first meal for my husband (isn't there always a tragic story associated with the first meal). We had just moved into a townhouse and the dust caused me to be completely stuffy (for about a month after moving) and I couldn’t taste a thing. His favorite meal is Lasagna which of course being the dutiful domestic goddess I am I HAD to make for him it seems I overdid it a little on the garlic...well a lot. I used the jarred minced garlic with didn't seem very powerful enough to me. He ate it smiling all the way asking for seconds to keep me from tearing up (ahhhh that's the good stuff). He teases me now telling me I nearly burned off his tongue.
