Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
I wasn't blown away by this recipe. It tasted ok but I agree with some others that the chicken was not as tender as I expected. It was ok.

Gingersnap Mini Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
These are tasty little muffin bites. I will definitely make them again. I found the flavour a little more subtle then I would have liked and will kick it up with a bit more ginger next time, but they are a beautiful treat!

Apple Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
This is a delicious alternative to apple crisp.I served it in pie wedges with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and a bit of caramel sauce. I used some of the other suggestions and used 1/2cup of oats and 1/2 cup of walnuts and added a bit of lemon zest. I left my apples pretty chunky to see if I could get more apple taste based on others reviews. I had to cook mine about 50 minutes but that might just be my oven and so it was a bit brown on top which I disguised with some powdered sugar. I was very pleased with the result.

Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
Alfredo sauce has been my nemesis for years until now! This recipe is fabulous. I used low fat milk and cream cheese and did not find it heavy or sticky. I used real garlic insted of garlic salt and substituted asparagus for broccoli. Fabulous meal!

Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2005
This recipe works well and is easy. I substituted regualr eggs and only used 6 but I still felt it was too eggy for my liking and I would have liked more hashbrowns. I added a bit of rosemary to kick up the ham and I liked that addition. I will use this recipe again with a few changes.

Spiced Parsnip Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
This soup is very unique and tasty! I added some cream cheese and a bit of celery and used a shallot not a full onion. I used a hand mixer which leaves it quite chunky. I will use my food processor next time for a smoother texture. This is a great autumn/winter soup.

This recipe is a snap to make and goes over great. I recently made it for a dinner party and it was almost gone before I got a sample myself. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cheese Cake Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2005
These little cupcakes are great! You can take them anywhere and dress them up however you like. I have used the wafers whole and crushed and I think both ways are fine. They are best if you can leave them in the fridge for at least two hours. I like to garnish mine with a dollop of cool whip fresh fruit and some chocolate and a sprig of mint. People will gobble these up!

Baked Ziti with Turkey Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
I enjoyed this recipe but I did almost everything differently. I used it more for inspiration. I did not have turkey so I used chicken for the meatballs. I did not have tomato sauce so I used rose sauce and threw in some fresh tomatoes. I did not have ricotta so I whipped half a cup of sour cream with half a cup of cream cheese. I did not have Ziti so I used radiatore. Other than that I followed the instructions:) The meatballs were tender and it was very creamy. The creamy sauce really cut dow on the acidity of the tomatoes. The meatballs were great. Thanks for the inspiration!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
This is a great basic waffle recipe. I did double the sugar and I thought it seemed like a lot of Baking powder so I cut it in half but the first two were a bit flat so I added the extra and the rest were fluffy and great. I had way too much batter so I cooked the rest to the point that they were almost done and then cooled them and stored them in the freezer. Just toast them up in a toaster and they are great. Way better than EGGO:) Thanks for the recipe!

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2005
This was easy:) My first attempt at a fruit sauce. I had leftover defrosted mixed berries in the fridge and used them instead of blueberries but did everything else the same. My family loved this on waffles!

Overnight Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
This is one of my best finds on this site!!!! I couldnt find frozen dinner rolls at the store so I tried Pillsbury Country biscuits in the refrigerator can. They worked perfectly, but you need two cans for the recipe. These were tasty and moist and easy to make. They smell up the house pretty good too! Thanks for this great recipe!

What a nice loaf. Very flavourful! You need three pears even if you can get two cups from two I think. This recipe works pretty well as muffins too.

Sweet Potato Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
What an unexpected treat. I tried this recipe for fun but it is really good. I used a bit more sugar than the recipe and added vanilla (1 tsp. They have a wonderful texture. I made the first batch plain and added a simple glaze on top. The second batch I pushed a mini marchmallow in the middle and topped with a bit of brown sugar like a mini sweet potato casserole. They looked really cute and were a great thanksgiving warm up.

Baby BLT

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I made these for a Christmas luncheon and they were a hit. I used a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream when I discovered someone put an empty jar of mayo in the fridge. they still tasted great. I added a bit of Italian dip seasoning for kick. It took me about 4o minutes to make 30 from start to finish. I used a tomoto corer to scoop out the tomatos and as another reviewer suggested sprinkled a little salt and turned them upside down to let the excess juice run out. This is a fun recipe!

Fresh Apple Tarts

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I liked this recipe but I made a lot of changes. I used pecans, apples, brown sugar and maple syrup. I also used prepared tart shells and just pulled up the edges to make them fold over. They were a hit at my meeting.
