About this Cook
I got married and relocated to the United States. Back in Malaysia, my mom did most of the cooking while I helped with the baking. Now that I am married, I do all the cooking. :-) I do love to cook now and like trying new recipes. However, I rarely follow any recipe exactly because I like to cook healthily. So, I substitute some ingredients with healthier ones. My favorite recipe website is allrecipes.com.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Chinese food. My husband's favorite is Ginger Chicken and Porkballs. I have also picked up some American recipes like mashed potatoes, potato salad, coleslaw and pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In Malaysia, my family would have a big reunion dinner on the eve of Chinese New Year. Here, it would be Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
My first successful moist chocolate cake and cherry pie.
My cooking tragedies
I think that would be a chocolate cake that turned out to be dry. Glad I found the perfect chocolate cake recipe on this website.

Corn Pudding V
Yummy!!!! My husband and I like corn so I decided to try this recipe and we both liked it. I made some changes though. :) I substituted margarine with natural apple sauce and sour cream with fat-free plain yogurt. I also used 1/2 cup of cornbread mix and 1/2 cup of yellow cornmeal. Baked at 350 degrees F for about 90 minutes. Thanks for sharing Becky.

A-Number-1 Banana Cake
I made half a recipe and replaced milk with plain fat free yogurt and walnuts with sunflower seeds as I didn't have walnuts. I like bananas so I used 4 bananas. The batter was enough to make 12 large muffins. They were very moist and heavy......yum-yum. My hubby has requested that I make them again tomorrow. I think this time I will use a round pan or loaf pan. :) Thanks a lot.

Chinese Steamed Buns with BBQ Pork Filling
MMMMMMM Yummy!!! I was craving for "dim sum" from my home country and was really happy when I found this recipe. Tried it today and wow!!!!! it was really good.....just like the steamed buns from back home. My husband thought they were delicious too. I made the dough by hand and had to add about 1 more cup of flour like one reviewer did. Thanks so much for the recipe, Carol. Now, I don't feel so homesick. :)
