Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
very good! The combination of sauce, pasta, chicken and herbs is a great starting point to expand from. Next time I will use noodles instead of farfalle. I followed other reviews and kept oil at 1/3, that was plenty! Adding in tomatoes, peas and other veggies makes this a great dish

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
Great recipe with lots of room for experimentation. The suggestions for poaching the chicken rather than sauteing is a great one that makes a big difference. Use care in selecting cheese to include in this soup. I used a store brand shredded colby jack blend that turned out poorly in the context of the soup (extremely buttery aftertaste)

Individual Baked Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Very quick and easy! Baked a single large egg in a silicone cup for 20m at 350 degrees. Yolk was a hard-boiled consistency, which is perfect for our tastes. Also used a precooked slice of bacon cooked at 15s on high, then wrapped in the cup before the egg.

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
Fast, easy, flavorful! Made mine with beef & diced onions, beef broth instead of water, and a frozen veggie mix of peas/carrots/corn/green beans in addition to all the other ingredients. Only issue was the onion soup mix I used (walmart) was very salty. Next time I will use either half the walmart variety or try a different brand.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2008
I followed the suggestions and used 1/4c vinegar, 1/4c chicken broth. I skipped the herbs and did not miss them in the finished product. The tomato/onion/vinegar sauce pairs well with rice (also cooked in chicken broth). I've never cooked with more than a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar before, and I am surprised how long the flavor lingers in my mouth. If you are unsure how you will enjoy the balsamic flavor, I suggest going for a 3 to 1 ratio of broth to vinegar. Will make again though! Great and simple pantry-staple recipe

Lisa's Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
This recipe did not disappoint! I've never bought or cooked with Old Bay seasoning before (not a seafood eater) but I am a believer in it for chicken now that I used it in this recipe. I used a can of crushed tomatoes and 1/2 back of frozen pepper and onion stir fry mix to cook with the seasoned chicken. Turned out perfectly. I thawed the peppers in the microwave before cooking. Will make again!

Pasta Milan

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2007
The good: the combo of sauce, peas, asparagus is excellent! Perfect pickings from a pantry/fridge raid The bad: not feeling the gorgonzola. I had some leftover from another recipe that called for melted gorgonzola, so getting it in crumbled form the flavor was a bit overpowering. I'm not enough of a cheese snob to know of a good substitute (yet) The suggestions: refridgerate the asparagus and mix them in cold. The pop of cold with everything else cold provides a good contrast. Also mixed chives into the sauce which added a nice flavor. Will make again, but not with the gorgonzola

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
These came out thicker than cake, but not so fudgey that they stick to your palate in a gross way. I needed something to fix the 'sawdust' frosting as given in the recipe, I was out of eggs but a touch of half-n-half produced great results. These would be perfect to make again for a bake sale or office potluck. Will make again!

Orange Drop Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
Excellent flavor and texture. Following the direction as written creates a runny, thin cookie. I should have read the other reviews and made these in a muffin tin to create a larger, fluffier cookie.

JIF® Irresistible Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
Good, but not the best cookie I've ever had. If you like soft cookies that aren't overly chewy, this is the recipe for you as far as texture goes. They cooked very quickly and didn't ooze all over the pan. I substituted butter for shortening and they tasted very peanut buttery. Would probably be even better with some heath bar chips mixed in!

Goat Cheese and Spinach Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
This is an excellent turkey burger recipe. One package (1.20 lbs) made 5 burgers for me. I added chopped onion, garlic, and seasoned with onion&garlic powder in addition to the chopped spinach and goat cheese. This is a great recipe to use as-is or experiment with! Will make again

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c.! I bought a roasted deli chicken and picked meat from it instead of making my own from raw chicken. Saved some trouble and tasted wonderful. Will make again!

Zucchini Cornbread Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2006
I love most anything zucchini, and this did not disappoint me. I should have read the reviews first and put the cheese topping on during the last 20 minutes of backing, and used less onion. The whole white onion I used put me off a bit from the tastiness of the cornbread and the zucchini. I do plan to make this again one day.
