My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother has been a cook pretty much all her life, and a good one at that. When I was learning to cook, I used to ask her how much and what ingredients to use and she had the most irritating answers. She'd say "oh just add a little of this and a little of that". I now find myself doing the same thing- and the annoying thing about it is that if I make something that turns out great- next time I have to guess how I did it because I don't really know how much of everything and what I all put in it!
My cooking triumphs
Normally my first time making something turns out great. It's the times after that, that don't turn out as good. I think the best meal I've made is lasagne. I made it for my husband's family one time and it was soooo yummy. Unfortunatly, my latter attempts never turned out quite as good!
My cooking tragedies
The first thing that comes to mind when I think tragedies is an incident that I had at a friend's house. I was babysitting her son and decided to make these yummy peanut butter cookies (with chocolate kisses on top), and surprise her when she got home. Well I think I did surprise her because I had mistakenly used salt instead of sugar!

Coconut Raspberry Cookies
So I'm wondering for those of you who had rather flat cookies, did you completely melt the margarine, or just til it was soft? My mom always taught me that the "runnier" your margarine is, the flatter your cookies will be. Just a tip. :)
