Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2015
This has become my go to banana bread recipe. It's easy, moist, and I enjoy the flavor. The only change I make is to mash the bananas---it's more of a texture preference for me. I use my mixer to mash the bananas, then I throw in the butter, sugar, and follow the rest of the recipe. Great recipe, thank you for sharing! :)

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
this pie was amazing!! the only thing i changed was use a frozen pie crust. i used a regular pie crust, but i suggest using deep dish crust since the filling overflowed. a delicious pie and a definite keeper!!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
i love this oatmeal cookie recipe! i followed other reviewer suggestions: add 1/2c more flour and 1/2 tsp more baking soda. make sure to mix in the flour mixture, oatmeal and choco chips by hand so that the cookie stays fluffy and doesn't flatten out. a definite keeper...so yummy :)

Strawberries and Cream Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2010
the strawberry cake was fairly dense but moist...i cut down the sugar to 1 1/2c, only used half the gelatin and increased the amount of pureed strawberries...also, instead of making the cream cheese icing, i matched the cake with a chocolate mousse frosting....it turned out great and we really enjoyed it :)

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
this is my first really bad review...i love to bake and i have baked plenty of cakes found on this site, but this recipe was a complete disaster. I followed suggestions that other people made---used oil instead of shortening, increased milk, and used new baking powder. i even used cake flour and was very careful not to over mix. i will have to agree with one that said it tasted like sugar dough and one who commented on the texture being like cornbread. i'm glad it worked for some people, wish it worked for me....but i definitely won't use this recipe again.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
this is my first time making shepherd's pie and it turned out great. i did make some changes suggested by other raters. i added 8 oz sour cream to the mashed potatoes, used 1 packet of brown gravy with 1 cup of water instead of beef broth, and also sauteed diced onions and minced garlic with the ground beef. i really enjoyed the final result and will definitely be keeping this recipe :)

S'mores Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
i followed someone's suggestion to double graham crackers, sugar, and butter. i tried to cut a piece after it cooled down, it was just way to crumbly and the bottom fell apart. the graham cracker part will be crumbly either way, but placing it in the fridge before cutting definitely helped. i kept mine in the fridge, but would heat up a slice for about 10-15 sec in the microwave---just enough to warm up the marshmallows on top before eating :)

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
i thought these were great! i followed the recipe exactly how it is and it turned out delicious. there's nothing better than banana bread except making them muffin size with crumb topping! maybe next time i'll add some vanilla and cinnamon or maybe some chocolate chips to change it a bit. thanks for the great recipe :)

Grilled Corn in Husks

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
yummm...this turned out great. i didn't have parmesan so i added paprika and a little bit of cayenne pepper with the butter. i also didn't peel back the husk before soaking...i soaked the corn, then peeled it afterwards to clean before covering it again. i will definitely be making this more often :)
