Mostaccioli Mosta

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
This was an easy recipe to make and my husband really enjoyed it! As recommended by other reviewers, I mixed everything together and baked it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. I made this recipe a second time and added two Italian sausages and some onion and minced garlic to the meat mixture (also put in some extra pasta sauce). It was even better! Yum!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
The soup tastes very good! I used two boxes of rice-a-roni and added a can of corn which gives it a nice taste. For whatever reason, though, the rice didn't cook all the way through, so the soup is slightly crunchy (but fortunately, only slightly). It's still really good though.

Go Girl Hot Szechwan Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
This recipe was good, but not great. It definitely was not spicy (we used chili powder instead of chili paste, which may have been why it was milder than expected). The orange taste was pretty evident. I probably won't make this recipe again, but if I do, I will definitely look for some sort of hot Asian chili paste.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
I took the advice of several others and used gravy instead of beef broth. Also, I mixed the carrots (which I microwaved instead of boiled) with 1/2 cup of frozen peas (my husband is not a big fan of peas) and a can of corn. I added lots of garlic powder to the beef mixture and sprinkled some on the veggies as well. I will likely make this in the future, but plan on leaving out the carrots.

Baked Ravioli in Mushroom Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
I used Rosetto small round cheese raviolis and added fresh mushrooms (which I sauted with the onion) to a jar of Ragu classic alfredo sauce. In addition, I added two chicken apple sausages which I diced up and added to the onions and mushrooms. In my hurry to get dinner done, I forgot to add minced garlic to the sauce. My husband said the sauce was bland...probably won't make this recipe again. Maybe it'd be better to make my own sauce like other reviewers recommended.

Hamburger Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
I took the advice of several reviewers and substituted celery for other veggies. I also added garlic powder, garlic salt, Cajun seasoning and a dash of cayenne pepper to jazz it up. I thought it was tasty and will make it again.

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
A good vanilla frosting recipe and I plan on making it again. Mine turned out a little thin so I added some extra powdered sugar and that helped.

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
Tasty bread...I halved it (because I didn't have enough pumpkin) and coarsely chopped the cranberries. I took others advice of using slightly less sugar and using a combination of mostly white sugar with some brown sugar. In the future, I may add chocolate chips, as others have recommended.

Wisconsin Cheese Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2005
I made this recipe without the carrots and added lots of garlic powder. I didn't particularly like the soup but my husband did and said he would have given it five stars, except that he didn't like the texture of the broccoli in the soup. I may try it again...

Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2005
My muffins came out kind of flat. They tasted okay (I added extra sugar like others recommended), however, I don't think I'll make them again.

Chicken Balsamic

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
My husband enjoyed this dish, but I wasn't as impressed. I used 2 1/2 teaspoons of minced garlic and marinated it for approximately four hours, and found it still kind of bland. Maybe I did something wrong? I may try it again...

Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2006
My husband enjoyed this and said he'd have it again. I wasn't as big a fan of this recipe though. I used the recommendations of flouring the chickens and adding sauted onions to the sauce. I didn't have any heavy cream and used milk instead...seemed to turn out fine though.

Cajun Appetizer Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2006
My husband and I had this for dinner and thought it was very good! I used Creole seasoning, which may have made it a little more salty than I would have liked, but it still came out well. I served it over buttered rice, as recommended by another reviewer. I will definitely make it again!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2006
As mentioned by other reviewers, I used vanilla instead of brandy and used Craisins. These cookies turned out wonderfully. Yum!

Spanish-Style Chicken and Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
This was pretty good, but not great. I used a 14.5 oz. can of Italian style diced tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes and, by personal preference, left out the green peppers. I also added some garlic salt at the end.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
I used a bottom round roast for this recipe and it turned out fairly well. My husband gave it a four rating because he thought the meat was a little dry. I used 8-oz. of Pepsi and 2-oz. of water to avoid other reviewers' complaints about it being too sweet and it didn't seem sweet at all. I didn't put in the celery and instead chopped up half a small onion and put that in. I may try this recipe again in the future and marinate the meat in the sauce overnight before cooking it in the crock pot.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I sliced approximately six small Russet potatoes and cooked them at 350 degrees for the first half hour and then at 400 degrees for the last half hour (stirring them about every 10 minutes). I added an extra tablespoon each of butter, horseradish and lemon juice (unfortunately, not fresh lemon juice). I also added minced garlic (about two cloves), a quarter teaspoon of hot sauce and used garlic salt instead of regular salt. I thought they tasted pretty good (with just enough of a spicy flavor). My husband rated them as a four and said he would only give a five rating to mashed potato recipes.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2006
My husband had two bites and proclaimed, "This is a five!" As recommended by others, I added a can of black beans (drained) and increased the garlic (to 2 tsp.) and cumin (to 1 tsp.). I also added a pinch of red pepper flakes. Shredding the chicken is a must...I will definitely make this again!

Sausage Potato Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
My husband wasn't too excited about this recipe. I thought it was pretty good though. I added garlic salt, garlic powder, and paprika as well as half an onion and a handful of chopped carrots and about a cup of frozen corn.
