Taffy Apple Salad

This simple taffy salad is a winner at any BBQ or picnic. I do not make mine a day ahead of time and it still turns out fine, I just cool the juice in the freezer for a bit, adding bits of Snickers bar makes this rich but it is great without it too.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Just like Grandma's! May I recommend using stick, unsalted butter. I tried to make this recipe using the country crock spread I had on hand and the result was WAY to runny. When I tried it with stick butter, it turned out perfect.

Brown Sugar, Mustard-Glazed Ham

I made this glaze for the Easter ham and can't tell you how simple, fast, and tasty this recipe was. I used to spend a long time preparing my marinade, no longer. I will be using this glaze again and again!! Thanks!

Carrot Cake

This is a great carrot cake, not quit elike my grandma used to make but pretty darn close. I didn't use the icing suggested with this recipe. I opted for Cream Cheese Frosting II (also on this site) because that recipe was more like my grandma's. The only thing I can suggest for the cake recipe, add some brown sugar. This cake was much lighter than I remember carrot cakes being and I think it is because there is no brown sugar in the recipe. I am making this again for Easter (today), this time I will add 1 cup of brown sugar and see how it turns out. Great cake, thanks for teh recipe.

Vegetable Lasagna in Parmesan Cream Sauce

I cheated and prepared this recipe using no-cook lasagna and frozen veggies. Still this tasted like something I had spent all day slaving over. This is a rich and creamy comfort food my family will have again and again.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

This recipe would have been outstanding, if I had ensured I had all the ingredients before I started making it. I didnt have heavy cream so I was forced to use milk and ricotta instead. Not exactly what the author envisioned I'm sure and defintley not the final version, but I can tell if I had use the right ingredients this would have been great.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Finally something me and my husband can both agree on! I like unique, he digs bland and boring. This recipe had just the right amount of flavor to please us both. After reading the reviews about the fish being a bit soggy I decided to add the breadcrumbs the last 5-10 min. of cooking and it turned out great! I highly recommend this recipe.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Great flavor, very creamy. I accidentally burned my first batch by overcooking in the oven, but was able to salvage it by adding milk a few cups of milk. No one at Thanksgiving knew what a catastrophe it could have been. I cooked my second batch the next day and even after sitting in the refrigerator overnight it came out beautifully and still creamy. I highly recommmend this recipe.

Potato and Broccoli Casserole

Ran out of rice at my house on Thanksgiving so I decided to give this recipe a try. I got a lot of compliments on it although I felt it was just thick brocccoli cheese soup. If you like broccoli cheese soup you are sure to like this casserole. Defintley worth a try.
