Sweet Potato Pie II

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
I followed the recipe and I didn't really like that much. I found it tasted to much like pumpkin pie. Not quite what I was looking for. The filling was a little chunky and I had to cook it longer then what was recomended and it still came out too mooshy. A good recipe if your looking for something like a pumpkin pie with a little twist though.

Sucre a la Creme

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
YUMMY!!! I love these! I did mine a little different, I did it on the stove with a candy thermometer and boiled until it reached 240F. I also reduced the white sugar to 3/4 cup and added 1/4 cup maple suryp, SOOOO GOOOOOOD. when I was mixing it after boiling it started getting stiffer after about 4ish minutes so I just poured it out in a pan and voila!

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I just finish making these and they turned out great. The only thing I changed was baking powder instead of baking soda as recommended by other reviewers. The only thing that didn't come out right was the the amount I got. The recipe says it will make about 48 tsp size cookies, well I got over 200 using a tsp. Not that I am complaining though cause these will disappear faster then it took to make them lol.

Strawberry Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
This is a very good recipe. I did have to use a smaller pan because I didn't have enough crust for the bottom. I will deffinately make this again but with these changes, 1.5 cups flour, 1.5 cups oats, 2/3 cup sugar, 2/3 cup butter, didn't use salt because butter is salted. This will give me more crust as it was very delicate. I also used raspberry jam and it was very yummy. I'll try appricot next time just for a change. Very good though. :)

Budget Berry Jam

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
I just made this and am pretty surprised with the taste. I thought it would have some tomato taste to it but none at all. I did cut it down to 8 serving to try at first and I used cherry jello. I added sugar to it and it turned out really sweet but still good, I made a second 8serving batch and did not add the sugar and that turned out MUCH better. I will be using this recipe again, thank you.

Strawberries 'n' Cream Tarts

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
just finished making this, all I can say is Mmmmmmm yummy!!!!! I doubled the recipe, used the full pack of cream cheese, it filled 12 small tart shells, and made 6 small popsicles. Can't wait to eat them hoping they both turn out great, would suggest adding more strawberries, can be made with any fruit too.

Savoiardi I

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
I was in the mood to make cookies today but a different kind. These looked like they would fit well. Making it was interesting and kind of fun too. Adding the flour was just weird. It didn't mix well so my first few cookies were just egg tasting. I mixed it more cause I noticed it was clumpy and the second batch was a little more firm. I didn't use a piping bag cause I don't have one so I just spooned then on the cookie sheet. My first impression when I took them out of the oven was "great I messed it up" they were very soft almost like making marangue. After cooling for an hour they are now sticky and kind of goowy. They have an interesting texture. I used orange extract instead of vanilla cause I ran out. The taste if good. I don't think I'll make these again though cause I was looking more for a cookie then this. Maybe I just didn't do it right, I don't know. Thanks for sharing.

Chicken and Roasted Garlic Risotto

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
Ok I made this for lunch for me and my girls (2-4). It was very easy to make. I didn't add the chicken though. My 2 yr old made a discusted face but took another bite right after then ate it all up and asked for more so she enjoyed it. My 4yr old however didn't really enjoy it but didn't make a big fight to eat it. I think next time I may only add half of the cream of mushroom soup cause I found it a little over powering on the mushroom. I did enjoy it alot though and had 2 bowls of it. I am going to freeze the rest in small bags so I can take some out as a quick lunch. Oh did I mention this is my fist time ever trying risotto, and I'm glad I did. Yummy UPDATE: These do not freeze well, the rice gets hard and it looses its flavour. Still a very yummy recipe though

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
this is a very easy recipe to follow and my 6yr old was able to do it almost all on her own. I followed the directions minus the nuts and topping, I found it sweet and not very appleish. I added 3/4 cup of apple which was 1 full apple, next time I think I might shred an extra apple to make it more appleish, recude the sugar by half. This does mix up like a thick dough but the end result is like a brownie and with my alterations, more apples less sugar, it will be a healthy snack for my kids to bring to school. Thank you for sharing with us

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
After reading a few reviews I decided to try it and well I didn't have any garlic salt so I didn't have to worry, all I did was add a little more garlic. Tastes very good. If your hesitant just don't add the garlic salt.

Rosy Grape Jelly

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This was just ok for me, I think maybe I used the wrong pectin or something. I would strongly suggest using white cranberry juice too, I used walmart brand cranberry juice and its more a brown color and not very nice looking. I might try it again with white cranberry juice and raspberry juice for something different. This was my first jelly though so I may have done something wrong.

Easy Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
This is a very good base recipe. I added an extra 1/2 cup of milk as adviced from previous posts. I also added fresh garlic, dill weed, frozen peas and corn. I used 1 can cream of chicken and 1 can cream of broccoli. I will definately make this again but next time I will use already cooked chicken and shred it instead of using chunks, it will cut cook time alot and chicken won't be as dry, I will also add a little more milk, 3/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup. Very good though.

Authentic German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
Very good. I omitted the bacon and used vegetable oil instead. I baked the potatoes whole then cooled before peeling and the skin peels right off. I cool completely then cut into small cubes. Refrigerate everything together over night for best results.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
If I rate this as the recipe calles I would give it a 4 but with my additions its deffinately a 5. I added some crushed garlic and added the rest of the ingredients to butter. I left the skin on the whole chicken but separated it from the meat. I smeared the butter mixture between the skin and meat. I also added a chicken cube in the bottom of the crockpot with a little water to give it a little extra taste. It turned out excelent. I am making this again for sure. The chicken came out so tender and juicy. Using balls of foil at the bottom helps alot, the chicken doesn't stick to the bottom and the meat doesn't turn out to soft. Thank you very much for sharing.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This is a very yummy macaroni salad. I halved the recipe though because I was the only one eating it. I read alot of reviews and it seemed like alot said it was too sweet so I added the sugar slowly until I found it just right, I ended up using only half of what was called for. I didn't use celery or peppers as I had none and used 2 eggs. I was making it to eat for lunch so I used only half the dressing at first but reserved the rest for tomorrow if it needs more. I do agree with another review that this would be even better with potato salad and will try it. I will definately be making this dressing over and over again, thanks for sharing. UPDATE: I just made this with potatoes and it turned out even better then with the macaroni. I still added the 2 eggs as it adds more flavor to it. I made the macaroni salad once with no eggs and it was kind of bland like it was missing something, so adding the eggs adds alot of flavor.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Just made these and I followed some of the suggestions. I did half brown and half white sugar, added a full tsp vanilla and added about 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips. They turned out nice, made 12 muffins as indicated. I left out the baking soda just cause it didn't seem like it needed it and some people complained that it tasted like baking soda. Just a little tip for those who said there muffins turned out to dry, you can't over mix muffins, just mix till its just mixed in, over mixing over works the dough making them hard and dry.

Mango Blueberry Muffins With Coconut Streusel

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
These are very yummy. I followed it almost to a T, all I did different was pureed 1 cup of mango's and added about 1/4 cup chopped mangoes, I only had 1/2 cup blueberries so I added raspberries, had 3/4 cup. I really liked the fruit in it but couldn't really taste the mango so next time I'm going to add more mango's and less blueberries. I'm also going to cut the sugar a bit. I found the streusel was a little floury so gonna double the recipe and add more coconut. I gave this 5 stars because it is a really good muffin and different from the normal flavors, I just need to adjust the sugar to my personal taste. great recipe Geranium Jan 27,11 just made these again using blueberries, very good, I added 1/4 cup more mango but still don't taste it much but still very tasty, I reduced the heat to 350 and baked for 20 min but half of them burned at the bottom, :S still eating around it though, also doubled the streusel and I had just enough

Dumpling Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
Mmmmmm this is yummy! I did forget to add the bacon though and I added some chicken broth and it is very tasty. Not much needed in this soup, maybe some chicken or even bacon hehe. I will definatly make this again and might try pureeing the potatoes before adding the dumplings. Just to give those who've never made dumplings before, I dropped these by marble size and they came out about the size of a quarter. Oh when I made the dumplings I used 1/2 a cup of whole wheat flour just to make it a little healthier. I may add some carrots next time also. I'm sitting here eating this soup as I am writing this review and I started with chunks of potatoes which was good but wanted to see what it would be like if I would puree it so I mushed the potatoes and it is even better, the dumpling doesn't have to fight with the potato to fit in the spoon. Mmmmm

Cheddar Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
These were just ok, other then the cheese its very bland. I used 1tsp paprika and sprinkled parm cheese on them too...thinking garlic powder and parsley or something like that would give it flavor. Took 10min to bake, the ones on the edge were crispy and the center ones were more like thin bread. May or may not make again.
