Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I became VERY familiar with baking these this year :) My husband was in Iraq. For an entire year, these were the cookies I sent. Mine come out a little on the flat side, but they're delicious. I omit the walnuts. That's the ONLY thing I do differently than the original recipe. I just stacked them in the ziplocs, threw a slice of bread in with them, padded the ziplocs with some grocery bags, and off they went to Iraq. I'd send them priority mail and he'd get them about 7 days after they came out of the oven. He said all of the guys devoured them before the day's end and most of them made it there without breaking :) Now THAT'S a good cookie! THANK YOU!!!

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
This soup was DELICIOUS! Definitely (as other reviewers stated) a restaurant-quality soup. To be honest, though, I didn't notice a difference when adding the red wine vinegar. I bought oyster crackers and it was perfect :) My husband was happy after work that day! A definite keeper!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
I made the most amazing cake with this recipe. I omitted the coconut, raisins, and walnuts, because I was looking for something a little more plain jane. Everyone raves about this cake. I topped it with this cream cheese icing recipe: 1 package cream cheese (8 oz) 1 stick butter (8 tablespoons) 2-4 cups confectioners sugar (add little at a time and taste) 1 1/2 teaspoons imitation vanilla (I think if you use pure vanilla extract cut it to 1 tsp) Throw all the ingredients in a bowl and mixed with a spoon until the confectioners sugar was incorporated. Use hand mixer on med. for less then a minute. You'll love this cake. Make it.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
No doubt about it, these muffins were good, but not anything out of the ordinary. I didn't have enough butter (and don't ever have margarine in the house) so I used 2 sticks of salted butter, and a 1/2 cup natural applesauce. We are coffee buffs in this house and instant coffee is never on hand. So I used 3 tablespoons of our freshly brewed coffee. Again, they were good. Just nothing out of the ordinary. :)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
Delicious Lasagna. I have had better (at my best friend's italian family's house) but this was probably the best I could have done in my kitchen. You can't really taste the sausage, so I recommend adding more sausage if you want the actual flavor (or omitting the ground beef). I liked it, my husband liked it, and my 6 year old liked it. I added spinach for a little bit of a different flavor.

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
This was a great vodka sauce recipe. Even better the next day. I didn't add as much cream as it called for, because we don't care for our vodka sauce super creamy. Otherwise, a very delicious recipe. I will make this again. And maybe some shrimp and crushed red pepper for a little more zing.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
To put this as simply as possible: this is OUTSTANDING. Probably one of the very best recipes I've gotten on here. I added a few of my favorite seasonings to the water while boiling ribs. (one being a family favorite charbroil seasoning). I used the water that the ribs are boiled in to boil potatoes, and wound up with mashed potatoes that were incredible. Hands down: MOUTH WATERING.

Glazed Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
This cake was not the lemon flavor that I was looking for. My grandma used to make a lemon poppy bundt cake and I thought this might come close to that flavor. I found the cake to be dry and the glaze was boring.
