I had been looking for a country gravy recipe that didn't require sausage drippings, since I don't always have that on hand when I want to make biscuits and gravy. But maybe it's better if you do. This didn't have the greatest flavor, in fact it was quite bland. But since I altered the recipe *using 1/4 cup veg. oil & 1/4 cup butter, and then only 1/2 cup flour) I will give it 4-star in the hopes that the original way was more flavor and because it made a nice thick gravy which I do like. I think using drippings or some other flavoring would make this a great gravy.
