About this Cook
I am engaged (have been for years....can't say that "IIIIIIdoooooo", one fantastic daughter, 3 great grandchildren, was a skydiver and retired after 350 jumps, rode a harley for years, love any type of adrenalin type hobbies, and I absolutely love to stream fish for trout in Northern California.
My favorite things to cook
Even though I'm French, my favorite is Mexican food. I love the taste, the spices and textures. I also love to bake and get most of my recipes off allrecipes.com
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandkids always want garlic mashed potatoes. They don't care what else I make as long as it includes the potatoes. Christmas always includes French Gallets (cookie made in a special iron), homemade fudge and baklava.
My cooking triumphs
Making baked goods for everyones birthdays in the sales dept at the TV station I work at.
My cooking tragedies
Many...where do I begin, but it never gets me down...I just keep trying!

Apple Cake with Buttermilk Sauce
This cake has a wonderful texture and flavor. However, I agree with another reviewer, I would definitely add additional apples. I've made this twice and even after oiling and flouring the bundt pan, I cannot get the cake to come out. The directions don't say to let the cake sit for 15 minutes b/4 inverting but I think this is probably the problem. I will make it again and hopefully come back with a 5 star.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread
Made this, but in a bundt pan. Turned out great. Didn't change a thing. Added frozen blueberries, but forgot to dust them in flour so they were all at the top of the cake (when I turned it out of the bundt pan). I have more zucchini so I'll make another and freeze it. Yum. Thanks for this recipe!

Buttermilk Pound Cake II
I've made this several times, with great reviews every time! I'm going to make this tonight, slice the cake in half and put a slurry of strawberry filling from the "Frosted Strawberry Shortcake" recipe with sliced strawberries and whipped cream on the top. Yum, this is my kind of strawberry shortcake. None of that sponge cake junk for me!
