Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This cake presents very well. It would be a wonderful addition to any brunch or shower party. I followed the suggestions of others and let the cake cool for 20 minutes. I next poked holes in the cake, made the glaze and added the glaze to the cake pan. I then put the cake back into the pan to soak up the glaze. Next time I would poke holes in the cake while it was still warm. Also, it suggests mixing for 5 minutes. Make sure to do this as it makes for a nice dense cake. I will make this again for sure!

One Bowl Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2006
This was very disappointing. It did not taste like traditional fudge, but more like plain old melted chocolate chips. It actually brought out a waxy taste in the chocolate chips (I used Toll-House chocolate chips). Maybe it would be better using more of a premium brand of chocolate chips? I won’t be making this again.

Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2006
These were very tasty! I followed the recipe as stated and the only complication I had was that I didn’t have enough graham cracker crust for the bottom of my 9x13 pan. I added some extra graham crackers to patch the holes and it worked ok, but the bottom was a bit on the crumbly side. I would suggest increasing the graham cracker crumbs to 1 ½ cups and the butter to ¾ cup. The taste made up for the crumbly bar and I will add this one to my recipe collection!

Vegetable Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
I’d give this recipe 4 stars for taste, but 3 for ease of preparation. The recipe calls for two -10 oz rolls of crescent rolls for a small baking sheet. I found two rolls actually filled up 1 ½ standard baking sheets. The recipe also calls for a 1/2 cup of each kind of veggie, but I needed more like a full cup of each. I also added carrots, onions, and extra cheese to the mix. I refrigerated these overnight and the crust was soft, but not soggy the next day. These are more time consuming then they look!

Almond Rhubarb Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
This is a very beautiful cake! I increased the rhubarb and topping as others have suggested. I took one cake into work and saved the other for home!

Stuffed Peppers My Way

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
This is one of my favorite recipes I’ve found on this website! I made some slight substitutions due to the lack of the ingredients called for. I didn’t have any onions on hand so I omitted them completely. I didn’t have any “Italian Seasoning” so I used parsley, rosemary, and oregano in its place. I also used regular rice and a can of diced tomatoes, drained. The taste was terrific and I will absolutely make these again!

Honey Nut Granola

Reviewed: May 4, 2006
This recipe gets 5 stars for taste, but 1 star for easy of preparation. This may be because I altered the recipe. I added a ½ half cup of molasses and a ½ cup Karo syrup along with ½ tsp. cloves and ½ tsp. nutmeg. I also added 1 cup of raisins. I let the granola cool on the pan as the recipe suggested and I couldn’t get the granola off the pan. It was a huge mess! Next time I’ll transfer the warm granola to cool on parchment paper.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2006
Yummy! This is a classic chili recipe. I made it in the crock pot and it was very tasty. I added diced tomato in sauce and used about half of the recommended tomato juice.

Chewy Cocoa Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
Good, but not the best. I like chewy brownies and these were more cake like.

Hot Cocoa Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
I’ve made this recipe before following the listed recipe precisely and it is fine, but not the best. This time I substituted Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder for regular cocoa powder. The taste was much more rich and chocolatey. It reminded me of what you’d buy at an expensive coffee shop. The dark cocoa powder bumps the recipe up to 5 stars in my book!

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This soup is the best! I added 1 cup of carrots and 1 cup of parsnips in addition to the onion and celery. I steamed the carrots, parsnips, and celery for a bit to soften them up. I used a rotisserie chicken and boiled it in the broth as others suggested. The flavor was fantastic. If you use a rotisserie chicken, I suggest using half the poultry seasoning as others have suggested. It was a bit on the salty side. 5-stars indeed!

Kikuchan's Potato-Crab Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
I tried this salad at a pot luck and very much enjoyed it. I made it myself and it didn't taste nearly as good. Peeling the hot potatoes was very difficult and time consuming. I don't think I'll try this one again.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
These bars are delicious! I think they are more like cake then bars. Like other reviewers, I added extra cloves and nutmeg to the mix. I think the bars may have been too bland without the extra spice. The bars almost overflowed the 10x15 jelly roll pan I used which made frosting a bit tricky. The frosting recipe made plenty to cover the bars generously. I will definitely make these again!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
Tasty, but not the best ever. I used a crock-pot on high for 4 hours and found that there was too much excess liquid. We served it over rice to soak up some of it up. I followed the advice of others and used V8 spicy and 2 tablespoons of chili powder. The heat factor was just right for my taste.
