Marshmallow Crispy Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
I made this according to recipe. The filling wasn't the right texture mixed with the rice crispy treat crust. It was too sweet... and sweet in an unnatural way. I did add kiwis and marshmallows to the filling... probably won't make again, but I will use the idea of adding gelatin to rice crispy treats. That turned out fantastic!

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
So it came out lopsided - that was my fault! And I had a mishap with the icing but googled and found that after the first round of whipping, putting it in the fridge for 30 minutes and then blasting it full power for about 4 minutes finally turned it to the right consistency. The only downside (which could be an upside!) is that my uncle had two slices, and we all swear that he was drunk by the end! Maybe doubling the liquor wasn't such a good idea.

The cookies came out tasting a little off. It tasted like I was eating flour and sugar and butter, but I think a good cookie should taste like a cookie. Not its ingredients.

Chicken Avocado Casserole

This was awesome! Though the gravy was just enough for 4 chicken breasts so I can't imagine it working for the 8 pieces it asked for.

I've made these several times, and they always come out perfect. I do my own mix of cinnamon and sugar though because I like a LOT on there.

Fast and Easy Tofu Lo-Mein

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
This was quite tasty and cheap! I used fresh veggies instead of frozen. But please do not use only one and a half cups of water for the ramen! I had to add more. Also added a little water to the stir fry when I added the veggies to moisten it a little which ended up being a good idea as it got very dry.

I personally did not appreciate the taste of the sauce, but my family loved it.

Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: May 14, 2007
This is my first time making sloppy joes since no one in my family is a big fan. I added everything except the cloves since other reviewers seemed turned off by them and I only had whole cloves that required grinding up. However it tasted incomplete, and as a test I added in the cloves. Seriously, it sparked the concoction right up. They add something and should not be omitted.

Perfectly crispy with a nice light fluffy center. I used mace instead of nutmeg since I had none on hand, and they still taste perfect.

Faye's Pulled Barbecue Pork

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
Wow. What else can I say? This has proved to be easier than I ever imagined and absolutely delicious. I read in a review that it ends up tasting like whatever barbeque sauce you use... so I took care and bought some of the really good stuff. I ended up having to use two bottles. And a suggestion! Something seemed to be lacking, so I sprinkled some brown sugar on top and mixed in. WOWZA! It was like magic!

Baked Beans III

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
I know, I know. It's just baked beans and bacon, right? Wrong! It was DELICIOUS. The bacon sauteed in brown sugar and onions... it just worked so well and added more flavor than you could ever hope to get from a can. I made it for a party and it was a huge hit! I'm going to make this for myself quite often. Normally I'm not a baked bean person, but I couldn't get enough of these.

Pina Colada Punch

This drink had a strange consistancy and was too thick to really enjoy on a hot day. Nobody enjoyed it, and I was stuck with a whole punch bowl leftoever after my party.

It turned out nice enough - easy and yummy and, best of all, quick! A little peppery though. Will tone down next time.

Attitude Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
This is my new favorite recipe! I absolutely adored it, as did the rest of my family! The combination of flavors was delicious. The lemon was subtle and added a little zing, unlike what some people said in their reviews. The leftovers were just as good as it tasted fresh. Thank you for such an awesome recipe!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
These were pretty good, although not what I expected. They were easy to make, and everyone liked them. My only problem was that the meat was a little tough. That could have been because of the cuts I used. If I make this again with better cuts and it turns out better, I'll change my rating.

Gingersnap Pumpkin Pie

Compared to other pumpkin pies, this one was overflowing with flavor. It was a hit, but I personally disliked the crust. It was soggy, and I couldn't get over the taste to enjoy the pie. I only ended up eating a few bites.

Aloha Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
I used chicken breasts instead of bone-in chicken and baked it on a bed of veggies as someone suggested earlier. Then I served it over white rice. Everyone loved the mixture of tastes! The meat was very tender and juicy. My family said they especially liked the pineapple - my mother said that she normally doesn't like pineapple, but it was good in this dish. We're definitely going to make this again, especially since it was relatively easy and simple to make.

Mary's Pecan Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2005
I made this according to recipe, and everyone loved it. (Although I didn't get a reesponse from my nut-hating brother.) I fried up each of the breasts individually because I felt they needed my full attention, and it ended up taking way too long to cook. If I make these again, I'll double them up and perhaps be more satisfed. The crust had a nice nutty flavor. I used half pecans and half almonds. Paired with the Asparagus Casserole I, it was filling and entirely satisfying!
