About this Cook
I come from a famiy that likes to cook. My mother and all of her sisters loved to cook. I now have grandchildren who are learning to cook and we have fun "cousins day" when several of the grandchildren get together to cook at Grandma's house.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake cookies and cakes and lately I am enjoying a streak of cooking homemade soups and chili. I have had many compiments on my soups and find that an easy way to entertain informally.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big family dinners near Christmas and Thanksgiving. Nieghborhood Brunches and BBQ's.
My cooking triumphs
I won first place with a Creamy White Chili and a Mexican Corn Bread. Most of the recipes I make from this site are good.
My cooking tragedies
I once burned some pudding so badly that the dog wouldn't eat it. I also tried to cut a recipe down to family size for Shoo Fly Pie that was intended for restaraunt use. I couldn't cut the pie with an ax!

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake
I was looking for something new to use some of the ground Elk I have and saw this recipe. We enjoyed it even though I had to leave out the green pepper. I was sceptical about the cloves but it called for such a small amount I decided to give it a try and am very glad that I did. The spices were just right and I will make this again.

Chocolate Zucchini Cookies
I made these this morning for my son's landscaping crew and one of them said "it tastes like chocolate cake" and another said "Tastes like chocolate muffins" and all of them liked them. I did use chocolate chips and some I added nuts to. I am having a hard time staying out of them myself!
