Dawn's Candied Walnuts

I've tried making candied walnuts several times and always failed, but this was so easy and sooo tasty! I have a marginal candy thermometer but still managed this easily! Thank you for the recipe!

Why make this in the crock pot when you can stick it in the oven? hours of AROMATHERAPY! Wow! Also wonderful flavors. I always double the cinnamon for the same reason. Really good. I'm an apple crisp officianado and wanted to try a slow cooker version. I'm glad I did. Also, you free up space in your oven for your main dish. Dessert is no fuss! Thanks for posting Rosie!

Pecan Pumpkin Pie I

Absolutely wonderful! I did use fresh pumpkin that I had grown in my garden. I prepped everything in my food processor. I liked how the topping came out. A fine crunch across the top of the pie. I didn't have any orange peel so I used a tablespoon of maple syrup. YUMMY!

Pumpkin Pie Bread

What a delicious recipe with only a cup of oil for three loaves of bread it's perfectly moist, and crispy, not soggy as I've found with adding apple sauce. I'm enjoying a warm slice with a cup of tea as I write this! Absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing this!

Fresh Tomato Pie

I have a bounty of fresh tomatoes from my garden, so I used beefsteaks. This was so delish! Small problem, beefsteaks are very juicy. Next time I'll use Romas also, I tossed a few cloves of fresh garlic into the cheese miixture, out of this world!

Pan Fried Swiss Chard

We're growing Swiss chard in our garden, and just today, it was ready to cut. I'm so glad I found this recipe. I haven't been crazy about Swiss Chard, and now I know why.. I didn't know the secret of bacon and garlic! We served this to my husband's parents. It was really fun to serve something so delicious that we grew ourselves. I forgot the lemon, but I did chop up a Vidalia onion and sauteed it with the garlic. YUM!

Carrot Cake III

I made this cake for my birthday today! My entire family said it was the best carrot cake they had ever tasted. I was tempted to add pineapple, then I decided not to change one thing in this recipe so I could honestly review it. If I had changed it, it would be a different recipe right? Absolutely wonderful. I'm looking forward to a slice tomorrow with a cup of tea. This is now the recipe I will use whenever I make carrot cake.

Gingerbread Cake

I've been looking for a recipe like this! I did substitute the shortening for a stick of butter. YUM. I like that there's only one stick of butter though in the whole cake. Very moist and flavorful, simple to make. Also a side benefit, aromatherapy for the home while it's cooking! I didn't have an orange so I just made a simple powdered sugar glaze. As Emeril would say.. Happy Happy!

Turtle Cheesecake

I was very intimidated at the thought of baking a cheesecake but this was a gift to my husband for Valentines day. My family all agreed it was the best cheesecake they had tasted. I would only suggest having extra caramel, chocolate and pecans on hand to decorate the top as it is in the photo! Five stars for yummy!

Apple Brownies

Enjoying this so much as we speak! Oh my gosh the sides are crispy the texture is perfect... One word, YUMMY. Very easy, I followed one reviewers advice and just creamed the butter and sugar. Now, I was short one apple, so I had to get creative and replaced that amount with sweet potato! Perfect. Also drizzled it with a powdered sugar glaze. Wow!

Pork and Green Chile Casserole

I cooked this as per directions, except I pre-cooked my own brown rice in the rice cooker and put it in at the end. Just wonderful! Our grown son stopped by and when he tasted this, he gave it ten stars and took a Tupperware container home with him.

Curried Brown Rice Salad

There's a party in my tummy! I had leftover brown rice that has been made into something wonderful. What I like about this recipe is it's versatile. I didn't have some of the ingredients so I used a can of mandarin orages instead of apples. dried cranberries instead of raisins, red onion, pine nuts. Only had real mayo and no yogurt so I used sour cream. The curry powder is ingenious here. I did throw in a tablespoon of Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. I even thew in a half a can of black beans! Absolutely Amazing!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

I made a special trip to the store to make sure I had the exact ingredients. By the time I got home it was too late to use the slow cooker, so I tossed it all in a pot. I had leftover roast chicken. This was THE best chicken tortilla soup I've had. I'ts so easy too. Thanks!

Cream of Tomato Gorgonzola Soup

Loved this! I'm going to have a hard time going back to plain ol tomato soup, espcially because this was so easy to make. I had all the ingredients on hand, served it with grilled provolone sandwiches. I had half an onion on hand so I chopped that up with the garlic and sauteed them in a little butter, then added them to the soup. The flavor was fantastic!

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Wow! My husband made this for us tonight. Although instead of shallots he added the zest of one lemon, and 2 cloves of garlic, and added that to the seasonings, and made it all into a paste with the olive oil. Spread it onto the chops and seared them. Absolutely wonderful, the sauce went well over brown rice also. Will make this a regular for lamb.

Easy Beer Bread Mix

I liked the idea of giving this as a gift, so without ever trying it, I made 4 batches, I put 3 of them in quart jars, tied some ribbons with hearts on them around the tops and gave one to each of our grown kids for Valentines day. I made one loaf for my husband and I and we loved it. All the kids said it was some of the best home made bread they've had. I didn't have any italian seasoning, so I used Emeril's recipe that he calls "Bam" Wow! It really did kick it up a notch to borrow from Emeril. The butter is a must. My second loaf is in the oven now, thank you!

Grandma's Applesauce Cake

Delicious! If this is what they ate during the great depression, the great depression was not as bad as they say! I was out of raisins so I used dried cherries, I chopped them first. How delicious! One thing I made a little mistake on, was the cake looked nice and golden brown, so I didn't test the center,and it was a little under done in the center. Another 10 minutes would have done the trick, it's a wonderfully moist cake, but it may need a little more time.

Pat's Dumplings

The dumplings were just right, easy to make, I did use my food processor. I do wish I would have added more water since I live in the desert my dough is often dry, nonetheless, even though the dough was a little dry, the dumplings turned out perfect, I'm going to use this recipe from now on.

Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary

My husband and I loved this recipe. I followed the advice of another reviewer, and chopped the rosemary and added that and lemon juice to softened butter, and rubbed that under the skin of the game hens. I'll make this again. it was very easy and pretty to look at on the plate.

Gingerbread Boys

These are the best gingerbead cookies my family has tried, hands down.soft, but made nice little gingerbead boys. I followed bakers suggestion to use only large eggs, my dough rolled easily after flowering the board and rolling pin. I did use Molassis instead of dark corn syrup. We had our first gingerbread cookie party with our little grandsons today, we had fun making the cookies and smelling them bake. It made the Christmas season very special for all of us!
