Best Fried Green Tomatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
I made this recipe as written - except I sliced them about a 1/4 inch thick - and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crispy and just the right amount of spice. Big hit with everyone.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
A friend of mine raved about these so I had to try them myself. They are delicious - a Heath bar cookie! Easy, inexpensive, quick and irresistible. I followed the recipe exactly and had no problems at all. I did pop them in the fridge to help with the cooling process. Everyone who has tasted them loves them.

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This was excellent - everyone in the family loved it. Very nice flavor, not overpoweringly sweet. The only thing I did differently from the recipe was to substitute garlic powder for the garlic clove (which I didn't have) and garlic salt. I did not add any salt and the marinade was just fine. This is definitely a keeper.

Tart and Bubbly Wedding Punch

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
I made this for a bridal shower, and it was a big hit. I couldn't find pineapple juice concentrate, so I used regular pineapple juice and it came out fine.

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
This was just ok. A little underwhelming for us. I think it may have been the combination of flavors. It wasn't horrible, just not great.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

This was alright. It tasted like...sweet cole slaw. Nothing amazing about it, but it was good.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Surprisingly, everyone loved this. The kids especially! I initially had them taste it with their eyes closed so they wouldn't be put off by the appearance. The only thing I did different was to use a canola oil cooking spray to mist the leaves instead of drizzling with olive oil. The texture is much more thin and delicate than potato chips, so it requires a gentle touch.

Chicken Fiesta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
This was very good. I used green onion instead of regular onion and added fresh cilantro. I also cut the chicken breast in strips, then dredged it in the seasoning before frying it in the skillet. Instead of using another pot for the corn, beans and salsa, I used the skillet since it was already seasoned from the chicken. All in all, a good meal. I look forward to leftovers tomorrow.

Tater Tot Casserole III

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
This got the thumbs up at dinner. The beef (I used ground turkey) and bean mixture beneath the tater tots is not the most appetizing-looking, but everyone seemed to like it, and it is very quick and simple. The only thing I added was salt and pepper.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

These are a huge hit at our house. I add 1/2 cup coconut and about a teaspoon of nutmeg, and I can't keep them around!

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
I made this as part of our Christmas dinner. Instead of boiling, I steamed the broccoli. Very nice flavor; not overpowering at all.

Ma Ma's Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
Great recipe. A little more flavorful than the average sugar cookie recipe. I added about a 1/2 cup more flour during the mixing process and refrigerated the dough overnight so it would be easy to work with.

Excellent recipe. The only thing I did different was to decrease the sugar to 1/2 cup. It was plenty.

Way Easy Pizza Sauce/Bread Stick Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
We've been using this recipe for over a year, and it's the only pizza sauce recipe for us. Easy and quick to make and it always tastes fresh. We use it with "Jay's Signature Pizza Crust" recipe on this site.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
This is by far the best pizza crust recipe. It is the only one we use and have been doing so for over a year now. Sometimes we bake the crust 10-15 minutes before adding the toppings to give it a head start. Extra dough is great for breadsticks.

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2006
To me this did not taste so much like taco meat as it did pot roast. Even still, it wasn't that bad, it just needed some extra zip. Maybe some taco seasoning. I also probably would not cook it as long.

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
Very good recipe. I have made these many times. Not only do my kids love them, but they're a great way to get the kids to eat fruits/vegetables (pumpkin), especially if you grate some carrot in the mix. My only change would be to cut down on the spice a little bit. The cloves/allspice taste is a bit much. Other than that, these are excellent.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
This was ok. I took them to a cookie swap and people said they loved them, but I wasn't overwhelmed. I used vanilla instead of brandy. Maybe that was it.
