Best in Show Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I had never made cobbler this way, and I have to admit that I was sure the instructions were written wrong, because the whole thing is assembled upside down. I went ahead and did it anyway since the reviews were so good, and it was amazing! Great flavor, and it was a yummy way to use the marionberries from our garden. I'm going to let my girls help me next time--it was almost like magic to put a virtual "lake" of berries and sugar and water in the oven and have a scrumptious dessert emerge an hour later!

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I don't typically like ginger snaps, so I think it's the light use of spices that seems so wonderful to me here!

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
These were just okay. I cut the filling in half and it was still too much. I wondered if it would be better with fruit to offset the strong cream cheese flavor. Don't get me wrong, it was sweet and tasted okay, but it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
This is a fantastic, easy recipe. I had guests for dinner, and everyone warily took half a bowl to start, but then took huge bowls for seconds--even my kids loved it! After soaking, I drained the peas and added back fresh water with 6 cubes low-sodium chicken buillion (I held back about 2 c. of the 2 quarts water the second time and never ended up needing it, probably since the peas had already absorbed some). I didn't add the salt, because of the salty ham bone, or the marjoram, because I didn't have any. I HIGHLY recommend!

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
My husband hates anything with soy sauce in it, and he LOVES this marinade. He asks for it every time I cook steak now--no matter what the cut. My kids eat it, too.

Blue Ribbon Overnight Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
These rolls are so great! No kneading required--and you can just let them wait until you're ready to bake them. I have another recipe that I like the taste of better, but when I need something low-maintenance, these are the best!

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
These are wonderful! They are my new Christmas cookie--so easy to make dozens at a time, and everyone loves them (even me, and I don't really like coconut!). The trick to getting these off the pan is to grease and then FLOUR the pan. They fall right off--no parchment paper, foil or special liner necessary.

Crispy Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
We LOVE these potatoes! My husband requests these now instead of baked potatoes because they taste great without all the added sour cream and butter. We've seriously made these five or six times since we discovered them a few weeks ago. They're really good as is if you like spicy, but if I make them for the kids I only use half the pepper called for.
