Ghirardelli(R) Magic Cookie Bars
I had a can of condensed milk and not sure what to do with it, so I found this recipe and got very excited. I even bought graham crackers so I could make it. I love all the ingredients separately but it just didn't come together for me. I think the condensed milk flavor was off-putting after being baked. Not the worst thing I ever tasted, but didn't make me go "yum" and I definitely will not make again.

The Original Fantasy Fudge
Too sweet. I reduced the sugar to 2 1/2 cups and I still found it too sweet to eat. I split my batch into two so I could make two flavor combinations: maple pecan (with Ghiradelli white chips) and chocolate walnut (Ghiradelli semi-sweet chips), and I also used real butter. The maple pecan set up beautifully and smooth, and I used a little maple syrup for flavor (which is why I omitted some sugar). The semi-sweet one had a layer of grease pool at the top, which I had to dab off, and although it set, was grittier.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting
I used this frosting to fill a double-layer chocolate cake made with Duncan Hines Devil's Food Pound Cake recipe. It was perfect and the best part of the cake! I have made so many different frostings in the past and at best came up with something that was edible. This was so creamy, so good. When layered in the middle, it tasted like ganache! I don't know how it works frosting the outside of a cake, but this was a spectacular filling. It will be my only chocolate frosting from now on! I have no idea how much sugar I used (much less than half what the recipe called for). I just added until it was to my liking, then adjusted the evaporated milk to get the right consistency. I hope it works with whole milk too - using evaporated milk does seem like a waste. Now if only I could find a vanilla frosting this good.
