Mexican Corn

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
Delicious! Made exactly as written (excluding only the butter) taste-testing along the way. Very good as is but replacing half the cream cheese with half an avocado, and adding a minced onion, minced garlic (instead of the garlic salt), a diced tomato and some cumin and chili powder take it over the top. We eat it as relish or a dip for tortillas. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I made this today and it was delicious. Although I only used half the oil (I tasted the dressing after mixing it and it tasted too oily to me so I doubled the vinegar and sugar. The ingredients reminded me of German Potato salad which I absolutely love so I added a pinch of celery seed and 2 slices of bacon which I cooked til crisp, drained and crumbled. I'm not sure how much the celery seed changed the taste of the recipe but I think the bacon made the recipe that much better.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I made this exactly as written for a birthday party and it was very good but IMO alittle too thick. The very next day I made it for sunday football and instead of using 2 packages of cream cheese I used 1 package and 8 ounces of sour cream; perfect texture! I've also since have been using 1/2 cup ranch dressing along with 1/2 cup blue cheese dressing. I find that kids don't care much for all blue cheese but without the blue cheese it feels like something is missing.

Marinated Carrot Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
I love this recipe! The first time I had it I was probably 10 years old. A friend of my parent's had us over for dinner and this is the only thing I actually remember having that night. My mom got the recipe from her that night and we've had it ever since. Her recipe didn't have celery in it but I'm sure it's just as good. The only thing I wanted to add here is that when I make it I use 2 tablespoons of oil instead of 1/4 cup (you could probably omit it completely). Splenda works well in place of the sugar and I only use half a green bell pepper. You could even use more carrots, this makes a lot of juice for two pounds of carrots.

Bavarian Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
I just had this for dinner. It's definately different that your usual pot roast but still pretty good. The only thing I think I'll do differently next time is cut the cinnamon in half. It was alittle too overwhelming for the dish.

Amazing Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
I'm only giving this recipe 4 stars because it was extremely fattening to start. I tweeked out most of the fat by omitting the shortening and using the 98 (I think)% fat free creamed soup by Cambells. I also cooked it alittle differently. I mixed the seasonings together, floured the chicken and threw it in a nonstick skillet with cooking spray to brown. For the sauce I used fat free chicken broth, sugar twin brown sugar and 2/3 cup orange juice concentrate. Threw everything in the crockpot for about 4 and a half hours and YUMM! Will definately make it again, and again and ....

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2010
This is weird because I bought an Allrecipes cookbook with this recipe in it. The recipe in the book calls for 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and there's no mention of tomato sauce other than in the review they (allrecipes) added on the side of the recipe. Never the less I made this with a few changes that wouldn't change the flavor. I omitted the salt but forgot the black pepper. After tasting it was missing bite, this was my fault b/c I forgot the pepper. All in all it's a great recipe though I'd add more tomatoes next time, maybe another can of drained diced tomatoes.

Portuguese Chourico and Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2006
As far as Chourico and Peppers recipes go this is great! Being part portuguese it's almost a staple at any family function. I gave it 4 stars only because I find green peppers to be VERY overwhelming in this recipe. I made it with red peppers and it was perfect!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
Way too sweet. It did taste good and I'm sure as an appetizer, having 1 or 2 pieces, it would be wonderful but to eat it as others have suggested (which is how we had it) on rice we all thought it was way too sweet. I had read the reviews saying it was too sweet and others saying it was perfect so instead of the whole cup I used 3/4c brown sugar. I will make this again but with 1/4c brown sugar to be eaten as a meal and maybe 1/2c as an appetizer.
