Beet and Pear Puree

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
I could not stop eating this. And it's absolutely gorgeous on the holiday table. (Just don't let any drip on your white tablecloth.) This recipe is a keeper!

Stir Fried Sesame Vegetables with Rice

I really like the balance of flavors. I might add a little more fresh ginger, but that's just me.

Tangy Turkey and Swiss Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
I could eat these sandwiches every week. I guess that means I'd have to roast a turkey every week. Hey, if that's what it takes. What I loved: the crispy bread and the melting cheese and that flavorful mayo and the ripe tomatoes and the sharp onion. This is a keeper. I'm going to try this with different cheeses, too. Brie? Havarti? Irish cheddar?

Amatriciana

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2006
This is a good weeknight meal: quick, satisfying and not a lot of fuss. I like using canned tomatoes instead of pasta sauce from a jar; the taste is fresher and there aren't a lot of mystery ingredients.

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2006
Excellent and so easy. I like to add a little dried herb to the seasonings on the skin, and sometimes it's nice to put some garlic and/or lemon in the cavity along with the rosemary and onion, but this recipe is just fine as written. Simple, straightforward, and so succulent!

Pork Tenderloin alla Napoli

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
Absolutely perfect! The cream mellowed the saltiness of the olives, and fresh tomatoes gave the dish color and balance. And it's so easy to make! This goes straight into my recipe box. Thanks for a gorgeous meal.

Skillet Herbed Chicken with Mustard

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
This combination didn't work as well as I'd hoped. It was too sweet and there was too much tarragon. And I like tarragon. With a little work this could be much better. How about a little heavy cream to mellow things out?

Zucchini Risotto

A perfect bowl of comfort on this cold and soggy day. I love the thin strips of zucchini; the sun-dried tomatoes are little bursts of flavor. Mmmmm!

Lemon Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2006
I think kids would enjoy this for the fun and the flavor. This would make a good take-along for playdates in the park. I like this because it's not fried. And the sauce is actually pretty tasty.

Philly Steak Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2006
This was a sassy little dish. I came to it with raised eyebrows, but all the textures and flavors worked. You have to be sure your fries are done up nice and crispy, though. And don't let the salad sit before you serve it. Soggy fries are not happy fries. In fact, why don't you just toss a few fries on after you dish up the salad?

Broiled Lemon and Garlic Tiger Prawns

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2006
This was so nice and yummy. These prawns are easy to make and fun to pick up and eat. You really do have to use the large size shrimp with this one. The classic oxymoron: jumbo shrimp. Go with it.

A delicious things to do to pears, and without the aftertaste that announces to your guests that you've skimped on the sugar. This is a good dessert.

Very tasty, but be prepared for a little cognitive dissonance: my nose smells fish but my mouth tastes chicken. Overall, a good party snack; certainly a conversation starter.
