Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2014
Delicious! Perfect! Yummy! Never making another recipe apart from a baked version I like. Only thing I did different was use vanilla sugar from Penzeys in place of white sugar. This recipe is perfect.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2012
Delicious! I altered the recipe just a bit- used cake flour, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 2 teaspoons vanilla(cause I love it so much). I beat the eggs for a minute and then added oil and beat for another minute until it was frothy. I was a bit nervous because the batter was so thick, but oh my goodness, it is delicious. I also used a bundt pan, sprayed baking pam, and then instead of flour I used another reviewers suggestion of using cinnamon sugar as the coating. It turned out great. I'm not even planning on frosting it! baked at 350 for 50 minutes.

Garlic Kale

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
I was nervous as I'd never had Kale before, but we all loved this. Unfortunately I let it sit too long and it did get a bit crunchy, but we still enjoyed it. Definitely tastey at the 10 minute mark when I tested it. I used 2 tablespoons of Avacado Oil (Olivado is the brand name) in place of olive oil. I also used my garlic press for the 4 cloves and added them in the last 3 minutes of cooking or so. Very good. My picky almost 7 year old ate his entire serving. We will definitely be making again!

Zucchini Saute

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
my picky son loved this. I made half the recipe since we have only 3 total in my family. used half a red onion, 1 zucchini(probably 1/2 a pound), 1 green pepper, 1 yellow pepper, 1 tomato. i added some oregano and garlic powder as well. it was quite simple, yet filling and delicious at the same time. the almost 7 year old had seconds! will make again.

Yogurt-Marinated Salmon Fillets (Dahi Machhali Masaledar)

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
My family loved it! Followed recipe as written except I omitted salt altogether, left the excess marinade on our salmon and baked it at 400 for 20 minutes (roughly). It was fantastic. Just enough bite for my husband and almost 7 year old son. And me. We love Indian food and enjoy making it often. I served this over simple saffron rice (rice, water, and a bit of saffron in the rice cooker) and there are no leftovers. Thanks, we will be making this again. I also think the marinade would make a fantastic dip and plan to make some soon. Maybe with a bit of sour cream to thicken it up a bit...or use greek yogurt instead of the organic stonyfield my husband bought.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
I used slightly less cheese the second time around because it was too cheesy the first time. Husband a huge alfredo fan so this recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
These cupcakes were pretty good. I had to make them twice because I was so nervous about over baking, I took them out of the oven a little too soon and the centers collapsed. The second time around I was patient, because mine needed to be in until 20-21 minutes or so. I personally do not like "cookie dough" things, but those in my family and friends that do, thoroughly enjoyed these. If I were to eat them, I'd make the dough balls smaller, but I mentioned that to a friend and she said no, bigger! I used pillsbury ready made cookie squares and rounded them before freezing for 2.5 hours. I put the small dabs of homemade butter cream frosting on the top, but it wasn't really required. These were tastey and sweet without any help from frosting. over all, i will keep this recipe and use again. thanks!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
very impressed with this yeast-less dough! i did a few things differently: 1 1/4 cups of flour, 1 egg, 1 tbls olive oil, 2 tsp baking powder, parsley, basil, thyme, pepper, oregano, garlic powder for my seasonings. also, no cow's milk in our house, rice milk instead. turned out fantastic! made 2 pie plates(dessert sized, not pizza sized). my son really loved helping and making his own pizza. baked for about 14 min, no toppings, then an additional 5-10 for the cheese to melt. FANTASTIC! will make again and again!

Hot Cocoa Marshmallow Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
I used actual hot cocoa mix packets in the marshmallow, and piped in a small amount of chocolate pudding into the top of the baked cupcake. These were fantastic! Served them at a bonfire. Everyone loved them!

Turtle Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
This is a delicious cake. I used the german choc. cake mix and had to use my bundt pan. It turned out great. I did use less caramels(probably about 9 oz), 1/8 cup butter, 1/2 cup evaporated milk on my stove top for the caramel sauce. turned out great. drizzled chocolate glaze on top followed by some of the caramel sauce. Very yummy! definitely agree with other reviewers, trim the cake down after the first baking before adding the caramel. And by using a little less of the caramel, I had a very pretty bundt cake that stayed together beautifully! Definitely try this if you like caramel. Oh, I also did not use any nuts or chocolate. I used peanut-butter chips and chocolate chips to make the glaze for the top. sprinkled mini chips on top. I'll post a photo soon.

Yummy Lemon Salmon Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
I made these with a few substitutions: 2-6oz cans of salmon, fresh basil instead of parsley, added a teaspoon of minced garlic, and some black pepper. I didn't make the sauce. These were delicious! Even my 4 year old enjoyed his mini salmon burger! I served them on salad for my husband and myself with no sauce needed on the burgers. They were moist and flavourful without the addition of any sauce. Will definitely make again!

Monterey Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
This is a great basic recipe but it really lacked a kick, and that was after I added a bunch of spices(italian herbs, cracked pepper, etc). So I added some fancy-super-hot-hot sauce at the end and it turned out fantastic. I also sauteed some yellow onion instead of the french fried onions. Made this for father's day 09. I will make this again. edit: august 14, 2009- made again. awesome: used more garlic, slightly more cheese, and a whole box of fettuccine noodles broken in thirds. also added more spinach and italian herbs. added additional 1 cup of sourcream when there was an hour left. yummy yummy yummy!!! with these additions, 5 stars!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
This was the easiest cake ever! And from scratch! I love it, and am using this as my base for most cakes now. I used rice milk to make it a dairy free cake with my good earth whipped buttery spread(it's dairy free as well) to accommodate allergies(could easily use egg replacer and make this vegan!!). I divided the batter into three sections(2 small and 1 large) and made one small blue, the other red, to make an AWESOME red white and blue cake. It was a HUGE success and gobbled up quickly. Everyone was calling it the "magic cake". I also increased the recipe by half to make it in a bundt pan. I'm about to make it today infused with fresh strawberries. YUM!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
FANTASTIC! I made a few changes, instant choc. pudding that had little caramel chips in it, and some choc. chips mixed in and a whole package of heath pieces mixed in. This was fantastic! Very dense and rich, yet light and delicious at the same time! Made it for my husband's birthday. He LOVED it. Making again for fathers day. Used the satiny glaze recipe and sprinkled heath pieces on top. This cake is something you would find in a 5 star restaurant. YUMMY YUMMY!!!

Cowboy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
These are the BEST!!! We use a little more jalapeno...and set some aside to add at the last minute...as to not lose all the spicy-ness...But these are a huge hit. We love them!

I made this vegan by using egg replacer in my cake mix, and vegan "butter" to make the frosting, and vegan dark chocolate chips for the topping. Oh My Goodness! I renamed this Death by Mint Chocolate Deliciousness! It was SO rich and delicious! my family absolutely loved it and there were NO leftovers! So yummy! Pancakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
These pancakes were tastey. I did add an additional 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. I also added a teaspoon of vanilla. In order to make these vegan, I used egg replacer and rice milk(1/2 cup original and 1/2 cup vanilla) instead of milk. They turned out great. My husband and son loved them(so did I)!
